The Thunderbirds were 20-4 last year, and finished first in the Big Sky Conf....Montana St. upset them in OT in the Conf. Tournament semi's...if they can tighten up the D a little, SUU can definitely win that Tourney this year, and given their offensive firepower, could give a 3 seed a scare in the Dance. Knight, Jones, Marin & Fausett can all score the ball.

I'm pretty hard on the MBB program, but that was a decent enough win yesterday for the Bears.

This was a fun game to watch. If you turn off your critique gene, and just watch it for fun, it was fun. SUU was a better and more athletic team than people would think without watching them. I can assure you they thought they would get a W last night. When they built a 10 point lead with about 10-15 left, they for sure thought they had it in the bag. Cal clawing back, Kelly doing what he did, was impressive. It was an ugly game for the first five minutes, no doubt, but when things buckled down it was fun to watch and fairly clean ball.

I said to my son afterward, after we had high fived each other through the end, was that we would lose a lot of games this year, but this was really fun to watch. The team gives a shit. They are well coached enough to be improving. They lack some talent. He agreed. Go Bears.

Southern Utah is actually a pretty good team from an offensive standpoint, so limiting them defensively the last 20+ mins after their early, 2H run was a real positive.

Conversely, they struggle defensively, so the fact that the Cal O struggled v. them for the most part is cause for concern, tho not surprising.

My basketball (college and pro) fandom waxes and wanes over years. Well written articles like this, however, could get me to tune back in more often. Well done.

I have admired Kelly's game for a while as well. While he shouldn't have to carry an offense, I am glad he was up to the task.

I feel like Dre has had a career arc of MSF - a role player who evolved into a go-to post scorer as he stayed with the program. Soft hands. Good little jump hook from both sides. Zero vertical, but able to rebound via guile and positioning and a big ass.
