Cal football lands the commitment of 2026 QB Brady Palmer
A strong weekend for the California Golden Bears on the recruiting trail continues to land big prospects.
The California Golden Bears had a huge set of commitments this week, and now have a starting quarterback for the 2026 class. Meet Brady Palmer out of San Diego.
The Cathedral Catholic signal-caller held numerous top offers, including Auburn, Michigan State, Ohio State, Kansas State, TCU, Utah, and Washington. Palmer ranks as the 51st-best quarterback and 73rd-best California prospect in the 2026 class, according to 247Sports Composite.
His junior season allowed him to flex his dual threat talents. Palmer passed for 16 touchdowns and 1,126 yards, while also rushing for 40 carries and 229 yareds and two scores. You can view Palmer’s Hudl highlights here. Some sample tape is also available below.
After years of sitting in the waiting room of recruiting, Cal now totals 12 commits overall before the start of summer. The Bears are ranked 20th by 247Sports, 18th by Rivals, and 28th by On3. Cal is not going down meekly after a tough transfer period. Opportunity awaits and a lot of prospects are seeing a place to play in Berkeley.
Welcome to Cal, Brady! Go Bears!
I'm optimistic about this new coaching staff, plus Ron. Wilcox is Wilcox.
Intrigued. Seems we may at least have some good competition for the job (if recruitment sticks).
