Cal Women's Rowing does get an at-large (1 of 11) bid to the NCAA Championships. Out of the 22 teams at the NC, Cal's boats are seeded 10th (V8), 7th (2V8), and 11th (V4) overall. Not really championship contending expectation this year, but hopefully a top-10 finish.
This would seem like a good time for us Old Bears to recall former Cal grad/Cal Athletic Director/Olympic Shotputter Dave Maggard.
I have fond memories of when my dad took me to a track meet at Edwards when I was a kid. Dave Maggard was the announcer, giving lots of kudos to whenever Randy Matson stepped up to the circle. Matson was the current world record holder.
