Cal secures highly recruited 3* TE Taimane Purcell
Highly coveted Hawaii TE holds offers from USC, Florida, UNC, Oregon, and Tennessee among others
Per Huffman, Cal secures the commitment of the highly coveted TE out of Kamehameha, Hawaii. Despite his 3* ranking on 247, and other ranking services, he holds 22 offers most of which came from current P4 schools.
Biggins evaluated the TE recently saying:
[…]Boasts an athletic 6-3, 235 pound frame, is a fluid mover and shows natural hands as a pass catcher. He’s extremely quick off the line, can stop and start on a dime and can separate down the field. Shows high level body control to win jump ball battles and has the strength to catch the ball through contact. Strong in-line blocker and his physicality shows up in his ability to break tackles after the catch and on the defensive side of the ball. May not have ideal tight end size but makes up for it with a large catch radius, quick twitch explosiveness and toughness. Projects as a high Power 4 prospect with an NFL ceiling.
With this addition Cal adds another top Hawaiian prospect after adding JKS and Manutai in the previous recruiting cycle deepening the pipeline between the island state and Cal.
You can find his junior year tape here, in 2024 he recorded 20 catches for 225 yards and 4 TDs as a TE
Welcome to Cal!
Someone is doing a great job recruiting. Keep it up!!
It’s not that we don’t get good players to come to Cal, it’s just that once they get here…
