It’s an SEC/NCAA farce that a team as strong as Cal’s baseball team is considered “in the bubble”. A farce because the so-called RPI rating system favors the conferences that have schedules much less demanding and competitive than the PAC. It reflects a bias against teams in the west (particularly California) that goes back decades. All sports really. Perhaps being a member of the ACC will soften the bias but don’t count on it.
Couldn’t agree more. Cal swept #6 ranked Oregon St. and swept the sweetheart of the Big East UConn. They should be in without question after winning 18 of their final 22 regular season games. A travesty if they are left out.
Softball walked a bunch of batters in the second inning and the Salukis prevailed. Baseball came all the way back from 5-0 to walk off the Huskies in the eleventh on a Payton Shulze oppo taco liner that just cleared the fence. Bears have now won 17 of their last 21!!
Cal softball was sadly eliminated this weekend. Two one-run losses to Southern Illinois, a bit of a stunner.
