Reassign Ragle to recruiting coordinator and find someone who can manage ST because if you didn't block 34 with the back 2 only being jumpers then you might as well put me in there.
To be a Cal fan is to embrace pain . . . guess the nice thing about being more removed from my time at Cal is that life events force me to care less about Cal losing
We in effect, are in our typical mid-season swoon that we always have after a 4-0 or 3-1 start with non-conference victories. Hopefully the Bears can put it together by next week. It's just that this year there was no non-conference play to work out the kinks. Added to this, the city of Berkeley covid restrictions hampered practices. Still I think special teams has been a dumpster fire that Wilcox will have to take ownership of. Whether that ,means firing Ragle or not, I don't know. Kind of hard to see how bringing in a new coach in midseason would cause much of an impact.
No point in firing Ragle at all because we don’t know how many games we even have left in this season. Our season could be over now or we might have another game or two.
Yeah, Ragle needs to be fired or reassigned.
I said something similar, I think last week that Wilcox doesn’t have the OOC to fatten up his record and has went immediately to his mid season losing streak.
You don’t compile a 10-20 pac 12 record without going on mid season losing streaks.
That has been the only consistent thing during these three games. I thought Wikcox was about to take that next step but it seems like he is taking two steps back.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Wilcox makes some kind of move. He’s usually pretty stoic on the sidelines, but finally showed plenty of emotion in this one. I mean, the ST’s errors in the past 2 games have been laughably brutal, costing them a 2-1 start.
Not sure what that’s really going to accomplish. I mean, at the end of the day, players need to make plays. Longhetto’s kicks have been shaky all year (even the 50 yarder) so having 2 chip shots badly blocked was not a surprise...Remigio CAN’T fumble that ball...Sheehan’s style of punting just begs to be blocked...it’s ALL BAD
So you’re not driving the “Fire Ragle Express” I thought you were the main person here talking about firing Ragle and he isn’t as great a recruiter as we make him out to be so he can be easily replaced.
The scary thing is that this is Wilcox fourth season when we expected the trajectory of the team to continue to rise with players he recruited. Not so.
Goff played in a VERY simple offensive system that practiced a LOT of reps. Garber's played in Baldwins system and took a year to learn it and excel. Now he has been thrown from the frying pan into the fire, forced to learn a very complex pro style system, without the benefit of Spring ball and a real Fall camp. Garbers is a solid QB. With time and reps in the new system he will be a good QB and maybe and NFL prospect. He has the athleticism and cool demeanor, but he needs more experience and has to be able to complete passes in tight windows (like last year) and he needs to be able to throw the long ball better (but he has greatly improved). I like Garbers and I think he will do well.
If our QB can't produce on the field because of new OC, that's a terrible excuse. Teams change OC all the time. If practice was limited, why not install more simple offense?
So Ohio State/Illinois is canceled tomorrow. If there’s any modicum of justice left in the dumpster fire cesspool that is 2020, then the dipshit Buckeyes will be left out of the CFP, for whatever reason.
I thought it was a night game and tuned in just in time for Cal to get the ball back and drive almost 90 yards to almost tie the game. Raising my hopes, then dashing them. Hi ho. So, at least I didn't invest 3 hours?
Aside from the finish, I thought it was an entertaining Big Game. Very close, several momentum changes, gritty, lots of emotion. Cal wearing Blue & Gold and Stanfurd in all white. A national network telecast in a near solo holiday TV timeslot. Both teams winless so no distracting talk about national rankings or other games on the upcoming schedule. Every player giving it their all and knowing this is the only game that matters. The finish was gut-wrenching, but I enjoyed every minute of this game.
+1: Nick mentioned this on the Watch-Along, and I have to agree. Cal and Stanford play really conservative football, making Big Games particularly stressful; they’re often close and decided by one or two plays.
True in so many ways, but, honestly, this game is about getting the win. Lusting for the win. All-the-eggs-in-one-basket-for-the-win kind of game. If I were not bleeding, just now, and of a sober and scholarly mind, I might agree. But right now! I hate Furd, I hate Shaw, and I hate today's game!
But....but...the journey is the destination. You have missed out on our collective ups and downs. But, yeah, you just saw the last of about four major foul ups, with the last one costing us the game.
Re: the loaded line on the extra point. We should have taken a delay of game penalty rather than kick it right into the forest of trees on the left side of the line, Could see the inevitable block coming. Also Wilcox should have gone for two.
At the conclusion of the OSU upset over the Ducks, Rod Gilmore had, of course, to state what a huge dissappointment it is to the PAC 12. I've always had little interest in the fostering of the PAC 12 tribe mentality. Cynically seeing as its base as a rent-seeking angle.
That is surprising because usually all he can talk about is how some Furdy player is going to become a neurosurgeon or professor. He makes me want to puke.
Reassign Ragle to recruiting coordinator and find someone who can manage ST because if you didn't block 34 with the back 2 only being jumpers then you might as well put me in there.
Let's hire Alamar again. Oh nvm he's on the Furd staff
Just hire San Jose State's ST coordinator or Coastal Carolina's clearly they haven't had problems
Wow I had just looked him up too haha
To be a Cal fan is to embrace pain . . . guess the nice thing about being more removed from my time at Cal is that life events force me to care less about Cal losing
This team just doesn’t look focused or prepared. That’s on the coaches, from Wilcox all the way down. Ragle needs to be replaced ASAP.
You can blame Covid all you want but this team has way too much experience and talent to go winless in the first three games.
We in effect, are in our typical mid-season swoon that we always have after a 4-0 or 3-1 start with non-conference victories. Hopefully the Bears can put it together by next week. The November Surrender? Much like the June Swoon of the Giants?
Knowing what I know now, I would have preferred to not play this season at all.
Exactly. F-You Ryan Day
That's 2020 for ya in a nutshell.
The only W4C email I have ever deleted upon receipt
I've deleted every W4C email this year lol
No!! :(
I have deleted all the emails as well because I just come to the website to read the articles.

Fire Ragle asap

self inflicted wounds; poor job coaching
That has been the only consistent thing during these three games. I thought Wikcox was about to take that next step but it seems like he is taking two steps back.
I thought it was supposed to be our year. But it's 2013 all over again except we don't even have an exciting offense.
Goff was so much better as true freshman compared to 4th year Garbers
I would say that Wilcox is in danger of losing this team for the rest of the season but that was probably our last game of the season.
Wilcox needs to make some changes to his staff. Ragle has got to go.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Wilcox makes some kind of move. He’s usually pretty stoic on the sidelines, but finally showed plenty of emotion in this one. I mean, the ST’s errors in the past 2 games have been laughably brutal, costing them a 2-1 start.
I wasn’t on the fire Ragle train but I’m fully on board and three drinks deep.
You’re right, I think we can somehow make it without all of his 3* Arizona recruits!

No, I’m not driving the fire Ragle bus, though I definitely purchased a ticket. Next stop, Fort Hancock, TX...

But it's his fourth year. Whatever the reason may be, if he can't perform on the field, then it's coach's failure then.
Perhaps he meant more experience with Musgrave since this is a new OC with a new offense.
If our QB can't produce on the field because of new OC, that's a terrible excuse. Teams change OC all the time. If practice was limited, why not install more simple offense?
More mobile???? Garbers ran for 75 yards today!!
You can have McIlwain

I really hope you're right but this is CFB and that is Ohio State so they will not be left out and the CFB playoffs will proceed.
If they get another game canceled they’re ineligible for B10 Championship Game I believe
Cmon Covid!!
Ya, they likely have to play BOTH Sparty & Harbaugh to clinch berth & they have a full-on COVID breakout on their hands.
Ragle for New Job 2020

Really?? I thought it was super boring game.
+1: Nick mentioned this on the Watch-Along, and I have to agree. Cal and Stanford play really conservative football, making Big Games particularly stressful; they’re often close and decided by one or two plays.
I've been thinking long term since the 1960s and what has it got me? A blocked extra point.

Good perspective TLT!

On the bright side, we are probably the best 0-3 team in the nation.
And look at how we've made other teams' dreams come true. We are the most generous of college football cultures.
We don't seem to have the bravado of Weaver on defense, the "better culture" that he epitomized.
