Cal transfer portal commit: Kicker Kyle Cunanan from Charlotte
The Bears will maintain kicking depth on their roster in 2025.
Cal has locked in another transfer portal target. Kyle Cunanan, a kicker from Charlotte, is transferring to Cal with three seasons of eligibility remaining.
Originally from Arizona, Cunanan played in all 12 games as a freshman, serving as Charlotte's primary kicker. He connected on 9-of-15 field goal attempts, went a perfect 16-for-16 on PATs, and led the team in scoring with 43 points. This past season as a sophomore, he made all five of his field goal attempts and converting every extra point.
Here are some of his game highlights.
This should give Cal two kickers on their roster responsible for various duties. With Ryan Coe moving on, Cunanan will likely compete with Derek Morris for the starting placekicker and/or kickoff roles. As a freshman, Morris took over the starting role mid-season and made 10 of 13 field goals this season, while Coe handled kickoffs and longer range kicks.
Welcome to Cal Kyle!
His stats don’t jump out. Need to be able to make all kicks under 40 yards. Ice water in veins!
Really hope we get more consistency in the kicking game.
