I just noticed that Spavital isn’t at all active on Twitter. His most recent tweet is from May, 2020 and after that he has only retweeted Texas State. His profile is changed to reflect his new Cal position but there’s not a single tweet about it (not even a retweet of Cal Football announcing him).

Wilcox doesn’t even have a Twitter acct afaik.

They don’t like social media, I get it, that’s fine. I rather like Wilcox’ no-nonsense coachspeak-only attitude towards media. But wouldn’t it be easy/smart to at least have some intern maintaining a basic online presence for them? Maybe forward o-line transfer DM’s to them?

It's 2022. Just have GPT-3 run it until Elon Musk suspends it.

There is a pretty massive social media operation for Cal Athletics and football. You need a shadow person to run your "account".

Hopefully the coaches can pick up even more talent from Colorado in the next week. Dion has started a fire sale in Boulder.

Crazy poached a cornerback from Deion Sanders, though I get people also make choices for personal reasons. Im guessing Deion hasnt had much time to evaluate his roster and make connections with players yet, other than his megalomaniac pep talk "I'm comin'" and saying there will be no hats allowed in the room while wearing one himself.

Even if he hadn't made good relationship yet, wouldn't a DB want to wait for Deion's arrival and make connections? I can't understand why a DB would want to leave before Deion even arrives.

I would bet that much like most other CU transfers, someone on staff told him to transfer away. They’re actively telling players and recruits that they’re not wanted.

Yeah that was my point. He must not be good enough.

Deion is telling lots of his roster to leave and pulling accepted offers from committed recruits. He wants as few players from the 1-11 team as possible.

Expand full comment

Well that's nice of him.

He also very definitely committed recruiting violations with Jackson State players who hadn’t entered the portal yet. Not that the NCAA will do anything.

I don't see Neon Deion quaking at the thought of Charlie Baker's wrath.

Can they play o-line

I would not want these guys to play OL.

I want legit beastly OL players to come to Cal and play OL lol

Fair enough, but do they know anything about running a basketball team?

That, I think they can do better than Fox

You read my mind, though the more the merrier on Defense.

Our roster from one of the worst defenses in Cal history ended up being The Takers + Evan Weaver.

Colorado was a bad team with bad coaching, but that doesn't mean we have players we think can be valuable in Cal's defense.

Bad teams does not equal that they are bad players individually. Slippery slope that people believe.

The Ecological Fallacy indeed.
