Cal Twitter Produces 'Ott to Go' Song for 'College GameDay' to Berkeley Campaign
We have created an unstoppable force as our online Cal fans have elevated their credits to Chappell Roan covers.
It’s been a wild few weeks for the very online fans of the California Golden Bears. There has been an explosion of memes from all our creative Cal fans, a very friendly Twitter Calgorithm that has sent these images across the college football landscape, creating a new legion of fans to adopt Cal as their second team, and national media beginning to discover the Bears in a new light.
With a Cal loss to Florida State, the national interest has somewhat dimmed. However, it did not completely eliminate the Bears from College Gameday contention with a top ten Miami coming to town. After Miami survived Virginia Tech and Washington (another Gameday contender) fell on Friday night, the enthusiasm has reached a fever pitch.
So Cal Twitter stepped up its game to prove that Berkeley is very much worthy of College Gameday, just for the vibes alone.
I present to you a Chappell Roan Cal-themed adaptation of “Hot To Go!”, titled “Ott to Go”.
This was produced by a host of Cal Twitter accounts (you can find a list of credits in this link), who also commissioned a singer to do an incredible rendition of Roan for the purposes of Lord Oski. I’ve been told a music video production is likely to follow shortly.
Here’s a link to the lyrics to sing along with your Cal family and friends.
We just have to salute our dedicated online Cal community. We have seen what they are capable of over the years, but never have they felt more organized and energized the past month. Hopefully the wider college football world will continue to root them on.
Many other memes have come out from the Calgorithm this week. Here are some of the highlights.
