Bright side of tn:

Semetri Carr looks amazing, what a debut for a true freshman, so quick.

Chris Bell found his shooting stroke

Manyiel Dhut looks like he might be something in a few years.

Down sides: Ilic is gonna be a liability, Camden can't score vs athletic defenders, Petraitis looked slow and a lot of other things tbh. 2nd half looks gives us something to build off of at least

Offense seriously showed up in the 2nd half. Love to see that we have that capability.

That may have been the least suspenseful 1-possession game ever played. At least we didn't quit after we went down 24.

Last time Cal had a 60 point half? I like the firepower on this squad

💯

Loss notwithstanding, this is likely going to be the best Cal team since Wyking was hired, which is progress.

Unlike football, Cal’s NIL for MBB is nowhere near close to competitive with other P5 programs.

This fact is directly on Jim Knowlton, and to a lesser extent Mike Williams.

Madsen’s going to need to keep some of these kids in the fold for next year if he’s gonna build anything and buck this trend.

Tbh, even against shit opponents we don’t score a century. We’re like 70-80 pts. KSU is a century team. Look at the score board. On the bright side, we’re a heckuva lot better than the last few years…

As with Vandy and Mizzou last year, Cal is simply not competitive with good P5 basketball teams.

Missouri was a razor close game. Cal just has extra trouble early year because its always new players learning the system.

Not defensively.

Cal gave up nearly 100 and could not get a stop basically the entire 2H of the game in Columbia.

Under Madsen, it’s a program of primarily mid-major guys that is more competitive v mid-major teams and is basically over matched against P5 rosters.

Ok you are correct, the NIL strike definitely did us no favors but you're throwing around the word non competitive very liberally. This game tn is not competitive. 93-98 loss to Missouri where we were up 16 is a very competitive game. It's not like we went winless in the ACC last year. I agree things need to change lets j not exaggerate on top of how bad it already is.

Fair.

Respectfully, they’ve gotten run off the court v good teams.

They’re down 20+ in 1H at Vandy, and at K-State. Good 2H tonight tho, and this will be the best Cal team in a decade.

We get run off the court, then run back on after the opponent gets complacent.

True.

And this team may not be good enough for a bubble run, but it’s hopefully going to be the one that jumpstarts the Cal program for Madsen.

17 wins is definitely doable. Think fUCLA will be tough, but can they take care of biz v Utah and the other non-cons? That would be a real positive.

Yikes. Glad I didn’t pay for the upgrade to add CBSSN channel to watch this game. So dumb paramount + doesn’t include it.

Just tuned in a couple minutes ago and I am not going to ask any questions about our defense that I don't want answered.

Welp, defensive questions remain against better competition.
