Had Pitt on the run with drives to the basket with momentum in our favor and Pitt in foul trouble, but then we just started throwing up bad shots and missing badly over and over. Very strange. Any thoughts on this? What the hell happened?

We played horribly. Question though… did the officiating look as bad on tv as it did in person? This was far and away the worst officiated game I’ve seen all year- like PAC-12 bad.

Optimistic me is wondering if winning the last two on the road, plus a first round game (likely against smu or whoever the 8 seed is) would be enough???

GlueAndBold's avatar

The biggest plus on our resume was the lack of bad losses and that's toast now

Need to get to the semis. This loss is crushing

Anything could happen. But Pitt is horrible. A horrible stain on our record. And a late season debacle. A run in the ACC tournament would be needed

Less than 12 hours before tip off I booked the trip to Las Vegas to watch the boys for March madness … did I jinx us?!

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Such a typical Cal performance.

no idea how you can have such a putrid game, this has to be on coaching,no?

Newellbany's avatar

Lotta blame to go around. The guys just didn’t show up. Fans didn’t either.

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Similar crowd as Wed.

KJ1980's avatar

I was thinking that too. A really poorly played game

Newellbany's avatar

I’m so deflated. Just so bummed. Man…..

KJ1980's avatar

I am a member of that club. Headed South next week. 16 turnovers killed is

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Ilic 5 turnovers…Ames 5.

Embarrassing.

NIT team.

KJ1980's avatar

Yes. That's appropriate. This team is just too inconsistent. A great SMU finish and the this. ....

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

This is the kind of loss that nukes your entire resume.

KJ1980's avatar

Yes indeed. An embarrassment of a game

BerkeleyBear's avatar

Really unfortunate that senior day hangover distracted the team to lose any chance at the NCAA tournament. Maybe they can be win the NIT tournament.

Newellbany's avatar

Did that 1999 nit champ team have ed gray? I thought it was Kilgore and Carlisle

Strut’88's avatar

Oh yeah, with Circus King, Michael Gill, Francisco Elson. . . . .

KJ1980's avatar

Sadly correct. NIT bound. A woeful performance when they needed a top notch one

Jimmy Chitwood's avatar

Even an average performance gets this one done. Pitt is horrid.

Worst game of the year by a mile when you just needed a W….Tournament teams do not lose this game - NIT teams do. And that’s where they are headed now, unfortunately…this loss is that bad….probably the worst loss of the month by a bubble team, which is the one thing they had avoided ALL season - the crippling, awful loss.

They gave it a good run this season, FAR exceeding the combination of their general talent level and Dort/Rytis injuries.

They are simply not skilled enough in the interior to win a game when the outside shots are not falling and the refs are letting them bang. Ilic is nowhere near athletic enough to hang with P4 players. No one showed up today, but his 4 1H turnovers were pathetic.

Bowlbasaur's avatar

Goodnight sweet tourney hopes, barring a miracle ACCT run.

KJ1980's avatar

Cal has 15 turnovers. Bears down 10 with 5 left.

KJ1980's avatar

Our offense took the day off. On Seniors day

KJ1980's avatar

It's a defensive game

Newellbany's avatar

I’ve so enjoyed watching this team all year…but this one is painful. All downside, no upside plus sloppy play equals nervoustown

KJ1980's avatar

Painful for sure. Bears do that to us too often
