Furd is only Q1 when playing on their court. Home games give fewer opportunities because there are only 30 teams that can qualify as Q1 when they visit.
SMU is like Clemson, juuuuust barely under the Q1 threshold for a home game. The selection committee also will have plenty of tools that could further contextualize within quads. For example, beating SMU in Haas (Q2) could still be treated similarly to a low Q1 if they're dealing with a bubble situation.
I think not screwing up against Q3/4s is more critical than winning to bubble teams right now. If we don't win any more Q1/2s we just become more dependent on other teams ahead of us screwing up. Our spotless Q3/4 record is probably why we're so close.
Right - my point is the W at ‘Furd is no longer Q1.
Agree that avoiding bad losses has kept us where we are, which is OUT of the Tournament now.
We need to beat SMU to pass teams ahead of us. It’s really our only chance.
Really think we need to win out now, unfortunately - our NET remains too low for an at-large as is. I used to think 10-8 would do it but we’re making no progress despite these W’s. Only SMU and Wake wins will do that.
Will take it. Furd was absolutely desperate to have a small hope of making the tournament. That's now toast. And we improve our stock. Still on track for 22 wins regular season.
So, still nothing on Dort? I am now assuming the dreaded Wilcox secret lower body season ending injury.
heard he’s been practising and progressing well! his return to the court should be next week against smu if not Pitt. he was GTD today but i think they chose to not play him just to be safe! very hopeful he will not be out for the rest of the season tho. Milo’s has a lot to still improve on but he’s adjusted well since then and have been huge for us!
Fresno State collapses in 2H, giving New Mexico a huge road win. Damn.
Coach took the mic after the game and was super stoked about the turnout and encouraged the same next week including for the senior game on Saturday.
The Cal Band was in the house full force. Cal Band good as usual and very entertaining.
Need a similar vibe Wed!
BRING OUT THE BROOMS 🧹 AND LETS START DANCING 🕺! Still got a lot of games left to win but we’ll take this one and keep looking foward.
Believe it or not, this is our first Q2 win. Here's the remaining schedule.
Q2 Home (31) SMU 02/25/2026
Q3 Home (125) Pittsburgh 02/28/2026
Q3 Away (170) Georgia Tech 03/04/2026
Q1 Away (58) Wake Forest 03/07/2026
That’s not good if it means @ Stanford is no longer a Q1 win.
Actually hurts us.

Typical Cal-like victory. We’re just not a team that will win comfortably this year but we are winning. Screw the style points and just give me the W
Agreed.
SMU Wednesday is a must win…Tournament teams do not lose home games to Q2 teams at the end of the year. NIT teams do.

Looks like Dort was out there for the shootaround so it doesn't feel like a season-ending thing. But of course, no one here knows anything.

Just win.
Sweeeeeeeep!
Dont understand that coaching to leave 17 in and then giving him the ball
Seriously. Bad move. Go small.
We have to get better at securing a lead at the end.
Do we not have any timeouts?
Justin Pippen should have 10 turnovers today.
Goddamit
He was hanging on rim with ball not in cylinder and helped it go in
I think agarwal is the tuna
No, it was Benny Gealer. They started it kind of early.
