Yahoo summed up the GBs after week 1 this way: "Quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele is special, but the offensive line and defense need to get better for Cal to start winning games.". I do not see JKS listed as not playing, though Vargas is still questionable. That said, even with JKS playing, we are only slightly better off with a stronger running game than last year. The WRs are going to have to run faster and get better separation sooner as the OL has so far shown itself to be unable to give JKS the time he needs. The DL and the defense in general has to play up to its ability or Cal will have a very long ride home from upstate NY. Syracuse looked great against an outclassed New Hampshire team last week. Cal will not be as easy a game, but I am still not optimistic about this team's chances after watching the UCLA game. I fear not enough time this week to make the kind of changes needed to change the trajectory of this team.
