I *really* don't like it when DJ is on the court tbh, he's still a bit of a black hole. Doesn't play and pass with the same level of chemistry as the rest of the team and always looks to be looking for his shot.
Also, I feel like we really missed Petraitus today so not going to overthink anything.
OK…Madsen definitely has his best team since he arrived. The defense has improved.
It’s much more of a team than a collection of individuals like last season.
Postseason play of any kind was always the goal for this year…but now, let’s dare to dream a little for relevance on Selection Sunday?
You have 5 OOC’s left…all winnable. An L in any would be devastating for the at-large resume. Hopefully you take care of business and finish 12-1 in non-con with W’s over fUCLA on a neutral court and Utah at home. Not the greatest OOC slate by any means, but it at least puts you in the conversation heading into ACC play. We should root for fUCLA and the Utes to win out.
ACC play - let’s say you lose home games to top-10 L’ville, UNC, and Duke…a win in ANY of these would be massive, but let’s say you’re 0-3.
Ya gotta beat ND, Ga Tech, Clemson, and ‘Furd at home (4-3).
Can you get a W at UVA or Va Tech? (5-4).
Can you get a W in the northeast, at ‘Cuse, or more likely BC (6-5).
Can you beat SMU and Pitt at Haas? (8-5)
Can you win even just 1 at FSU, GA TECH, ‘Furd, Wake, or Miami? (9-9).
Can you win a 1st round game on a neutral floor v a similarly matched team in the ACC Tourney?
Not entirely out of the question, and THAT’S bubble on Selection Sunday.
Hope the ACC closes out the ACC/SEC challenge strong to help get the conference to 8-9 tourney bids. I'm really optimistic about Cal basketball this season :)
6-3 as of tonight in favor of the ACC with most of the high tier matchups done, but the next batch of games is going to be rough. The whole challenge probably ends up .500.
Don't forget that the ACC is looking really strong and deep this year. Teams will be getting the benefit of the doubt. We have to make sure to beat up the bottom of the conference, though.
Yes. And even if you don’t get a W over a blue blood, grabbing some of those wins at Haas would be good resume wins…ie Clemson, ‘Furd and especially SMU.
Justin Pippen is a lot of fun to watch on both ends of the court
Good post game interview too, on the tv. Really like this kid

Let’s get it!

Nice win and gritty performance to not have a letdown after uclol win
Cal is basketball school and football school
Phew.
Big win.
Yes Jimmy!
Come on Bears. Close it out!
FANTASTIC D.
THIS TEAM IS BETTER.
Nervous time. Damn.
They’re gonna piss this away.
Can’t cough this one up.
How do you get beat on defense off a made FT? Brutal.
Madsen’s 2nd unit is not good enough v P4 competition.
Not sure how he fixes that.
He can tighten the rotation 1-4 but Illic as the backup 5 is just not cutting it.
No. He can pass it, but the rest of his game isn’t there yet.
Wonder why Ruff is redshirting. Have a hard time believing he couldn't beat out Campbell for 10 minutes a game.
Injury?
Campbell kills you.
He's been dinged up but haven't seen reports of anything major. Redshirting a 4 star is unheard of in this day and age.
I thought it was confirmed an injury. With current transfer rules, red shirting is pointless. Just play whoever you have.
Wow!! This is fun!🤩
Like this team. Fun to root for.
Ilic can’t play at this level.
Biggest disappointment on the roster.
