Someone smarter than me needs to explain why Aristotle lifts Ott late in games when we need a 1st down. Nothing against DeCarlos, as the holding call was the real dagger, but Ott disappeared for BOTH the crucial 3 and out series...he finally sees the field, and takes it 72 to the house on the cut back to ice it.
Why is he not getting snaps on the previous two drives?
So, great adjustments for the O-line this week. Hopefully, there are some more adjustments coming down the pipe to cover the middle of the field better going forward.
Credit to Plummer, too. After a horrendous 1st quarter where it looked like he was trying to throw the ball into the sun, he was much more accurate for the rest of the game.
With our close loss to Notre Dame last week (with a really bad O-Line) and their solid win over a good UNC team today, coupled with our solid win over AZ and a 3-1 record, we'll get some votes for Top 25 this week.
Solid adjustments in play calling for ND last week, tho...they really didn't put Pine in any high risk situation in 2H...everything was misdirection dump offs to the RBs and TEs....

Otts combination of patience and burst is astounding for a true freshmen.

had we beaten ND with a better 1st quarter we would have beaten ND and gotten into the Top 25. And a certain ref....
I think we're going to have to live with slow starts this whole season. Plummer seems to take a while to settle down each game.
Ott doesnโt though ;-)
Best O-line play I've seen under Justin Wilcox. Last couple of years has felt like all of the pieces were in place except the O line.
Was that our oldest losing streak we just broke? Or is Utah longer?
that was our oldest streak. We beat Utah with Davis Webb
Feels real damn good to get that monkey off our back
Ottโs 2nd long run was Jahvidesque.
Keep marching to a bowl game guys and thanks for letting me continue to watch college football Vs being a bitter Cal fan who tunes out the games
In the immortal words of Bon Jovi: "Whoa, whoa HALFWAY THERE."
Whoa, whoa, living on a prayer! (;-p)
Gimme 6...just gotta get to 6....
OUR SUN BOWL DREAM IS STILL ALIVE.....
Glad to see Vatikani was back out there. He looked like he got banged up a bit in the 3rd.
He was key
Nice win. How nice we played with a solid O-Line that can execute. Go Bears!!!
Goodness about time, now let's see a massive exponential build on this in the next game.
Great comment. I think we'll be able to move the ball on WASU if we play like we did today. Our Defense will be tested by them however.
WSU going to be a challenge. Lets go at it Bears!
Buffs at Folsom Field post-BYE is absolutely must win...Pullman next week gonna be tough...
The first to 20 rule streak is broken!
oh snap!
(or was it first to 21?)
It was first to 21.
welp Hayes is pretty fast as well
They say Hayes might be the fastest guy on the team. He can fly.
Looked solid.
#Drop49
Go!
Finally , a win over over Arizona, but I need to see the clock at 00:00
Stredick could break one, fresh legs and one of fastest players on the team.
The Ashtons gets involved! Ashton Stredick and Ashton Hayes get carries!
Man, Musgrave has an extreme RB by committee philosophy.
and the thing is they are all good
True, but Ott should never be absent from the field for 2 straight key series.
Sorry, but he's your RB1...get him consistent touches.
If we are up by as much was we were up and it's early in the season, you don't want to get him too beat up.
I think it was less time than this left when Oregon outscored WSU 22-0. Just sayin.
1 more point and the #Drop50 shirts come out
I still have mine somewhere!
I think I wore mine already this year
Why is that not targeting?
Agreed.
Announcer is right, Last week Cal let ND hang around and didn't make them one dimensional to force bad on good: bad ND QB versus our secondary.
Solid adjustments in play calling for ND last week, tho...they really didn't put Pine in any high risk situation in 2H...everything was misdirection dump offs to the RBs and TEs....
Give us 50. Do it. We dare you.
*yoink*
Ladies and Gentlemen, two things....
1. The "first to 21" streak is over.
and
2. We need to do everything we can to keep Jaydn Ott. Because elite programs are going to come calling.
Weโre an elite program.
That's the knock on DeLaura. He forces stuff and breaks under pressure.
ISAIAH YOUNG INTERCEPTION
Who wants it more?
Cal and the Takers
Puskas has had a good game. Solid player.
That sack was huge for momentum.
Itโll be fun to read the comments at Az Desert Stiem
I was hoping for that last INT just for them
What's our record for points scored in conference play under Wilcox? This has got to be up there.
True
And props to the OL, totally different play ~ pass the eye test, measurables, everything!!
Tip of the cap on the adjustments...much better this week.
When was the last time a Cal team went into halftime down, made adjustments, and came back a completely different team?
We scored too fucking fast!!
jk
But we'll take it, ya!
Best RB since the Ron Gould era
Major Tedford Era vibes
Rename the Campanile, give him a Nobel parking spot, whatever it takes to keep Ott happy
WILCOX: Turtle up! Grind out the clock!
OTT: LOL nah
Post of the thread...
Ott getting that offensive player of the week!
He's going to get O player of the year.
If Musgrave gives him 25 touches a night, he'll be in the discussion.
As long as he stays healthy! After watching other key players (Fresno State's QB a good example) go down, you realize how fast things can change.
Yeah, on a obvious playcall, Ott gets not only a first down but a TD. Where was he the last two drives
That's what elite individual players do...
DeCarlos is solid...Ott is a different player.
Dagger to the heart of AZ!! I think Ott has 275 yards rushing right now.
Ott for Heisman!!
25 touches a game.
If he's not getting 25 a game, someone needs to be fired.
OTT-o-matic TOUCHDOWN
JAYDN OTT MAMA THERE GOES THAT MAN HES GOT WHEELS. 72 YARDS
Slacker! 1 yard short of his first TD.
Ott - difference maker
Play the kid, Musgrave.
JFC
Ahhhh, pressure off
