Cal walks into Auburn and makes it Bear Territory
The California Golden Bears (2-0) won 21-14 in a down-to-the-wire game against the Auburn Tigers (1-1) on Saturday, their first trip to Auburn, Alabama, in program history. California's last victory over an SEC team was in 2019 when it faced off against Ole Miss.
The Golden Bears picked up five turnovers and scored 14 points from the takeaways in SEC country. Last year, California picked up four turnovers in its 10-14 loss against Auburn in Strawberry Canyon.
California led in total yards for the entire game, with sophomore quarterback Fernando Mendoza going 25-for-36, throwing 233 yards to eight receivers and connecting for two touchdowns.
