Can Cal Rugby complete its postseason revenge tour by beating undefeated Navy for the 2023 D1A College Rugby 15s National Championship today?
Golden Bears have already defeated SMC and BYU (after breaking the three-match losing streak against Cal Poly) to win the West. Navy gave Cal its first loss of the season in a tight match in Annapolis, MD. Cal Bears have since played better, particularly in the second half in this postseason run, and even got healthier.

Sadly, CAL was the more powerful team but committed WAY too many unforced errors (leading to turnovers) inside of 10 meters of the end zone. Whether we had untimely fumbles, knock ons, or committed penalties, it was the difference in the game. I've said this year that Navy plays a more disciplined and smarter game, but even they had their share of unforced errors yesterday, just not near as many as CAL.
I got to watch the last 25 mins of the game w my son who played football at Navy and is now learning to fly Navy P-8s (737s), during my visit to him in Jacksonville, FL. So even though Cal lost, I still won….
