But a Friday night road game on national TV in Winston-Salem v a conference opponent is exactly the type of game Justin Wilcox does NOT win throughout his nearly 8-season tenure.
Criticizing is distinct from general hate of the team. In fact, critique means you care so much you are willing to risk being labeled a hater of your own team. Free speech includes the speech one does not want to hear.
Okay, is it me or is there a contrast with ACC versus SEC/PAC2/MWC officiating?
I'll start.
SEC refs seemed slightly bent towards Auburn. For example, the Phantom P.I. that gave Auburn a TD they did not earn otherwise. Did not, however, hesitate to enforce targeting calls, even when there were none.
PAC2 let the game unfold without uber-officiating. And generally were consistent on calls between the two teams.
MWC Uber-officiating, but generally balanced. In other words, I found them fair, but a bit too involved.
ACC- Seems like the same crew follows Miami. Are they protecting the conference narrative? My conspiracy-theory mind imagines the conference building a narrative for SMU (since they pay their own way) and stacking against Calfurd, when they can.
Maybe the ACC football was better than we expected, but there's a pattern of favor, here, with some sharp contrasts with other officiating. And don't get me started about the Immaculate Encroachment, which is no theory, but an officially admitted bad call.
I wonder how our super secret officiating complaint is fairing? Will we ever know? What gives further credence are the suspicions circulating about other teams being unfavored, as well. Lots of critical plays and outcomes influenced by what appears to be selective officiating. #KeepTheSchoolsInLineWithBadReffing
Let's face it. The deep south (sec) and tobacco road (acc) hates the left coast. Like the unc womens soccer coach said, "I want cal and stanford to die on the vine". Cal just needs to forget
about the zebras and just go bang heads and put the numbers up like the last 2 years of Bruce Snyder's team and the best of Jeff Tedford's team did.
I'm not joking when I say that my own Evans Hall analysis suggested that Cal could still have lost the game in the 4th quarter despite being up 44-0. That's just PTSD talking right?
Nice to get a win. I'm sort of wondering why Mendoza didn't get more snaps to get more experience.
We left points off the board. I don’t care who it was, we need to score touchdowns
Exactly.

Yeah, love OSU in principle, but there are scores to settle with the angry, angry Beavers and their fans.
I love starting out PAC-12 play with a win—oh, wait!
PAC-Asterisk
Notable that it's Pac-* and not Pac-.*
We are 1-0 in Pac and 0-4 in ACC.
Should we join Pac State conference?
Or be independent, so every game is an OOC game.
Wilcox is very good at OOC games
LOL, yes, imagine we'd be headed for the CFP.
Good win, let’s see if we can actually win an ACC game now.
Yup. Nice to get a convincing W v a bad team.
At Wake becomes huge.
This team should at a minimum reach 6-6. We should absolutely destroy both Wake and Stanford.
They really should go 3-1 to finish at a mediocre 7-5 sadly.
This is true ~ the only L should come at SMU.
We should. Especially Stanford.

So we’ll see.
Should be a tell.
Hey, would LOVE a win. Let’s get it, despite the historical data.
Contrary to what a lot of the Pollyannas think, Wilcox critics do not root against the Cal football team.
It's a mirror image of free speech issues.

True enough, but with refs working against us, it's Cal versus two teams.
A refreshing turn of events

Pretty sure we were subbing in the 2s and 3s so strengthen our depth chart. Rogers needs to shake off rust, just like all the bench.
#54 has good light feet and hands. Keep him in there. He can play.
[Don't] Fire Wilcox!
Probably got a year's extension for this one.
I'm waiting for how we finish with the best talent we have had in years.
Thanks Rick.
