FERNANDO WAS SIMPLY OVERWHELMED BY BING SUBJECTED TO A CEASLESS, VERY PRESSING

ATTACK. HE WAS SO "DISCUMBOOUTATED" HE THREW SOME PASSES DIRECTLY TO OPPOSING PLAYERS.

THAT WAS THE CRUX OF THE REASON FOR OUR LOSS. DOES THAT TYEOF EVENT ADD TO THE SCORE FOR PASS COMPLETIONS? GERBEAR

Darn. Thanks.

I watched the first few minutes. I watched the kickoff fumble recovery and TD on the next play, then I had to head out. Did I miss anything?

I suppose the silver lining is that after dominating a Garber-less UCLA, this game did a pretty good job of squashing any unreasonable expectations we may have had during the off season.

See you all next year in the ACC!

It's finally over, I can turning it off now. It's a wonderful journey to get to the bowl game, so at least I've got that! Good night and see you all next year! Happy holidays, everyone! Go Bears!

btw we got outcoached by ex high school coach lol wilcox you really stink

Expand full comment

But a pretty successful one

Expand full comment

so sad no contest

Expand full comment

Outplayed and outcoached in all three phases. A very disappointing finish given the effort in prior three games. After seven years, the trajectory is pretty clear: you have to be able to recruit and keep coaches who can recruit and keep players who play to potential. That’s the job

The recruiting graphic was telling

Expand full comment

I’m so grateful I didn’t sit outside in the cold I. Louisiana for 4 hours tonight.

Expand full comment

No one did, based on broadcast.

Expand full comment

Making a bowl was definitely a sign of some success....but this is an awful performance. Embarrassing really.

This game flipped on the 2nd offsides that wiped out the Woodson pick.

Move on….ACC here we come - GO BEARS

Expand full comment

TT had the game that I was hoping Cal would have. Alas.

Expand full comment

Finally! A punt longer than 35 yards. Of course, its in garbage time

Expand full comment

We could have used that punt coverage earlier.

Expand full comment

Not sure why we’re leaving Mendoza in

Expand full comment

hoping he'll do something positive. This awful perfomance is going to work on his psyche all year.

Expand full comment

Agreed. He should have been pulled.

Expand full comment

Perhaps Finley was a emergency-only situation since he's in the portal

Expand full comment

“He’s our best chance to win,”

Expand full comment

"We've gotta do better."

Expand full comment

That… says everything

Expand full comment

Perhaps the worst bowl game performance by Cal during the Justin Wilcox era. At least the 2018 Cheez-it Bowl, which was horribly ugly, was only a 3-point OT loss.

Backwards we go

We've gotta learn how to fall forward

Like Brooks

precisely!

this brooks guy got an extra 2 yards on the doctor when he was born

This is UGLY!!!!! Boy, I sure didn't think that losing Spav would hurt this much. We look AWFUL!!!!! Football gods, pray for us.

Four turnovers did not help our cause

Old Bear: You aren't kidding! Mendoza really looks like an inexperienced freshman out there. That last pick that he threw was one of the dumbest throws I've seen in quite some time. How do you miss the ground and throw it straight to a defender instead? In some ways, this game is going to be the cold water in the face that Cal needs as we head into the ACC. I don't think we will be hearing any more talk of how much better our chances are going to be because the ACC is supposedly going to be an easier league to win in. Wilcox had better find another OC that can unlock the potential of players like Ott, Mendoza and Grizzell.

Expand full comment

But then there were people who were mad that we go Chandler Rodgers, saying it's disrespectful to Mendoza because he is our clear starter.

Expand full comment

Its true, TT isnt very different from a middling ACC team. Though while next year doesnt look great, the 2025 schedule looks pretty easy, especially considering how rugged the pac 12 was this year.

Either way, its Wilcox's MO to be about .500. We'd probably end up with the same record if we played a Mountain West schedule next year with the same players.

Expand full comment

If I say "easy", then the team will let up on the gas. We need to stop playing to the level of the competition. IMHO, very game we play should be like we're playing for the CFP.

Expand full comment

At least we know why Rodgers was brought in from North Texas for next year. Mendoza clearly doesn’t deserve to be handed any starting spot.

Expand full comment

Now, we're done.

No call bc it was on ttu

Expand full comment

Mendoza is having a historically awful game.

Expand full comment

I don’t think you’re using the word historically correctly. He looked like a freshman QB who played his worst game

Expand full comment

He doesn't start next year.

Another decent sequence there by the D. Too bad the offense is playing like UCLA on a bad day.

Expand full comment

Nando has been good but he needs to do much better at taking care of the ball

Expand full comment

why extend the game with a TO? We need running time.

Expand full comment

A new or improved QB doesn’t matter if don’t have an improved run game and oline

Expand full comment

Chandler Rogers must be licking his chops watching this. QB competition is WIDE OPEN.

Expand full comment

Cal should be looking hard in the QB transfer portal.

Expand full comment

We already got a good one and yes we should get a second one

Expand full comment

Chandler Rogers incoming, no?

Expand full comment

Yep. Takes care of the ball better

Expand full comment

Ugh. Feels like we're gonna get a face full of Tahj Brooks now.

Expand full comment

the kid is a load. real physical. built like a medium sized refrigerator.

Expand full comment

guess i was wrong about that obligatory bad Nando turnover thing being out of his system

Expand full comment

Mendoza literally put that ball where only the Tech guy had a chance to get it.

Expand full comment

Love the kids moxie but Mendoza just needs to be better with the ball

Expand full comment

It's been a thing this year. The transfer is way better at 29TD 5INT

Expand full comment

2 picks ad 2 fumbles is not getting it done

Expand full comment

Terrible pick by Nando

Expand full comment

That was bad fernando

Expand full comment

Roll on you Bears!!!

Expand full comment

Nice catch by Hunter.

Expand full comment

That's how to use Ott. Get him in space. He isn't Emmitt Smith.

Expand full comment

Not a helpful showing for those watching the portal and NIL sitch

Expand full comment

I bet they'll watch what happens with assistant coaches TBH.

Expand full comment

We had the chance to solidify a lot tonight. Unless there are changes there will be a lot more portal action. As for NIL, why buy gas for a race car when the current driver(s) are sputtering?

Nice pick there.
