4 total attempts for FSU's 3 best 3-point shooters is an INSANE defensive performance. The Cal women just need to tighten up on committing turnovers and they'll really be off to the races. I remember when Steve Kerr first came to the Warriors and told them that he thought that they were just a few turnovers a game from being a great team.
Michelle having a solid back up in Gabi Abighor really helps too. They’re both athletic and tall centers who cover a lot of ground and rebound really well.
while the 3 point shooting by the "splash sisters" will hopefully create tix interest, it's
DEFENSE that makes this team special & potentially able to win road games
the point of focus at this point should not be making the ncca tournament, it should be finishing in the regular season top 16 rankings & earning a hosting seed for the first round ncca tournament games...a #5 seed means a probable 1st game win & then a loss to an elite team on their homecourt
I think the Charmin and the team have done just about everything they can to improve attendance.
The fans was decent considering the students were out, but it was still disappointing and the alumni band wasn't even there (they were at the men's game earlier in the week).
also it was good that 5 cheerleaders were there and the dance team performed at halftime in prep for their national competition
No Cal band at weekend game against VaTech. Very disappointing. Mike men tried their best but atmosphere was lacking. I blame the athletic dept management for this.
I watched Bonner in warmups and noted that she was not shooting well from 3 (she wasn't a good shooter as a freshman at Cal).
So coaches strategy to let her shoot was a good gamble. She did hit 33% to her credit.
I was surprised to see her transfer out and wish she still was a bear as she's athletic with great length, but yeah, she needs to improve her shooting.
I'm so excited for the lady Bears. Must admit I've never attended or watched, but that's a shame on me. The ladies are playing like we wish the men would. Great job and Go Bears!
It was nice to have more company at Haas yesterday. Hoping that there will be a greater increase in attendance for the final six games.
Excellent points all around, Nick. Particularly about the defense which was stifling. The transformation from last season is striking. I think Kayla Williams has been a big difference.
I can't recall a player I've watched cover more ground on both ends that Williams, and I think she may have ran her legs to the edge after playing 40 minutes on Thursday, but thankfully if she was tired in the 2nd half a 34 point lead allows some leeway.
Yeah, I was thinking about that while she was still in the game with like a twenty point lead and four and a half minutes to play. Krimili as well was still on the court with under two minutes to play and an eighteen point lead.
Great story! You captured the essence of what it was like to watch that game in person. Just over 2,300 other fans joined me in Haas yesterday. Charmin says this team deserves to have twice or three times that number in the seats for every game. I AGREE!! Get to Haas!! GO Bears!!
A good analysis. The defensive effort was excellent. After the mid-point of the 3rd period the turnover issue emerged, along with tired legs, seemed to contribute to the narrower margin of victory. I hope when students return they will attend games and support this team. The bay area needs to come and watch Cal.

Making the tournament is the floor. I'm sure it's not the ceiling
how can we increase WBB attendance?

It's break which means they need to get alumni to volunteer. They'll be back the rest of the season.

Go Bears! Fantastic season so far.

Tune into one of their next games. You won't be disappointed!
Cue Charmin Smith "I love it when a plan comes together" Hannibal Smith meme.

As Kayla goes so do the Bears.

Was the Cal band at the game?
No.

The ACC should start to give us a little more pub now that we're winning more than their favorites
The ACC is an East coast conference though…the Bears could not be ignored though if they continue to win.
