Good article, thanks… it was an education for me as I don’t follow either sport closely

Cal swim/dive is strong every year so I do keep an eye on their results, and I root for them /watch them in the Olympics

I don’t follow or watch tennis although I do follow their social media and see they have a good team this year. I’ll try to make one of their matches this year

The “Olympic “ cal sports I do follow are softball, women’s soccer, VB and Beach VB, and baseball

1) The 98 national title count does currently include that 2016 ITA title, so another Indoor title will almost surely be counted (unless Cal opted to not count the 2016 title).

2) Nope. Rugby's 33 and Men's Rowing's 17 and Football's 5 are all non-NCAA titles that are included in the count of 98. Women's Rowing did become a NCAA sponsored sports - 1 of the 5 Cal title predated that though.

By the way, Cal women did not win a NCAA title until 2002 when Softball managed that feat.

I forgot to link it this time: https://calbears.com/sports/2013/4/17/208216519.aspx

By the way, when I wrote something similar a few years ago back on CGB (after Men' Swimming's win in 2019), someone at Cal took a closer look at their count and readjusted it (dropping two Track and Field titles previously listed, IIRC).
