Being picked 12th is impressive. Given the fact we have only one returning starter and so many newcomers. I guess that this is a vote of confidence for Coach Smith after what her team accomplished last season.
In comparison to the other middle class teams, Cal was able to reload better than others in that 7-15 range. Last year Cal was tabbed for 15th and finished 7th. Coach Smith has earned the benefit of the doubt if she had pieces to work with (she does).
