Yeah, a good game to start, especially on the part of some newcomers. Suarez plays with high energy, is physical in the paint and can score from multiple spots. Krimili brings a nice all-around skill set, plays with noticeable confidence, and has nice ball handling ability. I think Jayda Curry’s absence will, potentially, lead to more players coming into their own, scoring-wise. The team seems to have a number of players that are good at sharing the rock/able to get everyone involved, maybe more than in prior years. The Cal Straw Hat Band sounded great tonight. An ELO medley was especially good.

I loved Jayda, but I think we became very Jayda centric in our offense last year and looked lost when she was guarded well and/or not making shots and she would tend to pout too. I think and hope we're more balanced this season - sure we won't have a player ready to drop 30 points at any time, but I'm hoping with the increase in defensive size in the back court and a few more offensive options (including the injured? Claudia Langarita) we can be a lot more balanced and not be so limited when one of our players is having an off game.

Also, my favorite thing is still Kemery Martin's jump shot. I hope she unlocks it for a game and makes it rain like she did during Midnight Madness.

I think Krimilli will prove to be an upgrade over Curry. Based on last night and the exhibition game against Westmont, Mia looks much improved. Lulu shot well against Westmont. She'll get some important minutes this year. Marta Suarez may be our best player this season.

I'm also on the "Marta Suarez may be our best player this season" wagon as well (but Lei will be our most important)
