This Bear team has character. It comes from the coaching staff but also from Kayla Williams their floor leader. They can take a punch and punch right back. They can get knocked down but get back up. We haven't seen this level of basketball from the women's team in a long time and my goodness it's a breath of fresh air. Coach Charmin Smith has turned a corner and with an excellent recruiting class coming in it looks like the good times will roll for awhile. Super fun game last night.
Yes, Kayla brings a never fold mentality and the physical ability to back it up that are exceptional. She can be a solid scorer when needed in addition to running the offense and providing defensive pressure. Conditioning is something she takes very seriously, clearly.
Bears have managed to turn down the turnovers, while remaining tenacious offensively. As an aside, I think it is beneficial to Cal that some of these games vs. ACC opponents from the eastern time zone start late. I noticed it more with the men’s game Wednesday but I think it’s an advantage, where the opponent starts to tire in the second half. Chasing multiple three point shooters around the perimeter has got to be exhausting under any circumstances, of course. But, the Wolfpack gave a valiant effort themselves, shooting very well from distance. What a ballgame.

Yeah, 11 turnovers against a top 25 defense is massive and if the can replicate that kind of performance regularly the ACC is in trouble
