Is there a way to flag this as hate speech for the Lady Bears awfulness throughout? They are Bears. Golden Bears.

What's great is that Charmin Smith's team has been showing improvement year over year. This, to me, suggests good coaching she can build a program around. If you build it, they (the recruits) will come and everyone can go dancing!

Okay, I might be totally naive so please tell me if so, but I don't get why Cal WBB didn't even receive a single vote to be in the AP or coaches poll. I'm not asking why they aren't ranked, but why they're not even in the "others receiving votes" section. I see a fair amount of three-loss teams getting votes. Has their strength of schedule just not been up to par?

We did play one top ten team (Notre Dame) - but I think we're still trying to shrug off 2 years of bad results and other than Notre Dame (5) and SMU (70) we haven't played anyone in the top 150 of NCAA's NET rating - and we lost to SMU and Notre Dame. Every other team has been ranked below 150 - and many are in the 200s. Our strength of schedule has been really bad - so no one really has a good idea of how good the Bears are, how Martin and Peanut will adjust to being on Cal (we know they're Pac-12 level starters), how the bench additions will contribute.

Here are the NET ratings

While they're not end-all, be-all - they do give a rough estimation of where we are (80th)

Please, please don't call them Lady Bears!! That's Baylor. They are Cal WBB, Cal Bears or Cal Golden Bears.

I'm hoping for a middle of the pack finish in the conference, a run in the Pac-12 Tournament and a post-season berth (NCAA or WNIT).

Folks need to get to Haas to watch this team play. They play hard, compete, and can score with different players taking the honors of most points each game. GO Bears!!!!

I'm a season ticketholder and love watching this team!!

Amen, my brother.

I too am a season ticket holder who loves watching the team and I too abhor the notion of calling them (I can barely write it) "Lady Bears."

This will be the best Cal women's team in years. They will compete and will pull off an upset or two or three. I too encourage fans to come out and see them play.

We're never ever the Lady Bears.
