Still need a WR Coach, unless I missed that one. Coach Toler coming back home with all the changes at UCLA. Would add another strong recruiter into the mix....

WR and LB (and LB is often split between ILB and OLB), unless someone's coaching multiple positions or I missed something.

Toler would make a ton of sense. Chesney is bringing his OC to UCLA from JMU and presumably many assistants also. Toler (who was also recruiting coordinator) should be available since I don't think last year raised his stock.

I like Toler but the issue I have with him is that none of his WRs blocked anybody.

That is aggravatingly true. Blocking is often the difference between getting NFL reps and not. Maybe there's someone better out there.

Cal going with young and hungry folks is a high risk, high reward choice, but at least everyone will be motivated to show us what they’ve got as they try to move up their career path.

A lot of updates thanks for tracking it all. Getting portal talent will be key.

A group of exciting hires; however, I do wonder about Tosh's statement about all the established, recognizeable names who were calling him and interested in joinging the Cal staff. Who were they?

That's a quote I never really took at face value since it could mean anything. I also think that experience during the previous era of college football may not translate as well as it did. I think "some" experience should be enough, though I do have concerns that we're a bit TOO light on it overall.

Hope we are assembling Chip Kelly Oregon 2.0 and not Belichick Browns 2.0. The variance of youth is unpredictable.

Good point. I forgot about that. Who were they? And did Tosh/Rivera turn them down?

OK, now let's hit the ground running -- particularly after the showing in Hawaii. Looks like a very good first coaching staff.
