Hmm. Roster continuity in general is good and you can always use depth, but Cal struggled to run the football with any real success in each of the past 2 seasons, despite wholesale changes each year at OC and OL coach.

Maybe another year of experience helps to fix some of the issues, but execution-wise the Golden Bears OL is on the short list of worst overall units in Power Conference football the past 24-months, not to mention one of the more heavily penalized.

It will be interesting to see if the new staff can fix the culture and accountability issues that plagued the program the previous decade. Better execution in the trenches is the key to stacking 9+ win seasons. The question as to whether the previous troubles were largely a coaching or personnel issue will hopefully be answered.

Not seeing David Bird on the list, but he's back, and I bet with some stories to tell.

This has been rumored for a while. Never saw an announcement until this week, though. Getting publicly eviscerated by a kicker is gonna get someone looking elsewhere.

He's a good snapper so glad to have him back.
