Out of the three highest profile sports, Coach Smith is the only one to exceed expectations and be a factor in the first year of the ACC Conference. We swept Stanford and had several high profile wins. It was a great year that ended in a dejecting way. Don't let that spoil what the rest of the season meant.
Today was just a bad game at the worst time. It happens. The Bears are overall a very good team with a few significant weaknesses that still over-performed expectations well enough to believe in. I am so very proud of them for what they accomplished and for Coach Smith's leadership making this season possible despite all the change.
It was one hell of a ride and the season featured some of the most exciting and poetic basketball I've seen from a Cal team. Put the ACC on notice that we can hoop and turn any floor in the conference into Bear Territory.
A tremendous season for the Cal women. Very proud of them. Things didn't go our way today. So be it. Stellar recruiting class coming in next season. The portal additions for this season were off a 19-15 season and WBIT bid. I imagine 25-9 and an NCAA bid will turn some heads across the country among portal entrants. See you at Haas next season!! I saw them pass so many midrange jumpers. Overdriving and trying to make difficult passes. Maybe could’ve been fixed with some coaching…
