BYU slamming Colorado 20-0 at half

Pop Tarts Bowl is off the rails as one would expect

Why is Cam Ward out of the game? I see he played a lot of the game, and he's on the sideline in uniform, and involved, and the game is still up for grabs.

Ward decided prior to the game that he'd only play first half; didn't want to risk injury prior to draft. Same as Teddye Buchanan and Nohl Williams did for Cal. It certainly takes away from some of these games. Word is Colorady will have their senior stars; we'll see if they play the whole game.

Playing half a game seems weird. You can get hurt in the first quarter just as much as the last few minutes.

And it looks like Damien Martinez got dinged up, after having a really big day. Crystobal has seemingly gotten himself into a shootout without his best guns.

Interesting to see Cam Ward decided to play only first half (minimize chances of injury prior to NFL draft) and their leading receiver opted out entirely. It's not only Cal who has to deal with opt outs of eligile players.

His early exit resulted in Miami losing. I can’t fault him for mitigating the risk of injury, though. He left with the lead, gave his guys a shot to hold on for the win. More than can be said of Fernando. But again, if Fernando’s agent insisted the money coming his way was contingent upon him sitting out, what would any player do? This whole system is broken.

You are so right. The NIL is ruining college football. It has to be changed. First of all don't have the portal until after January. In fact, Have only one portal and have it in the spring. Secondly, have a salary cap and written contract.

Hard to know if some of those Bowl Game names are parodies or real.

Pop Tarts Bowl? Good for the Miami Vice Hurricanes!

End these idiotic bowl games

ACC is 1 - 9 in bowl games.... not very impressive.

Rae Moulton's avatar

Yeah, dismal, though ACC had two teams in the CFP and eleven teams (three yet to play) in bowls. I think Miami would have beaten Iowa St. had Ward not sat out the second half. On the other hand former Pac-12 teams are 1-3 in bowls and five teams (‘Furd, Oregon St., UCLA, Utah and Arizona) didn’t even make postseason. ASU and Oregon received byes in the CFP.

BC losing badly to 6-6 Nebraska. Every bad ACC bowl loss makes me more pissed at Wilcox

Strange new era. Imagine NFL stars sitting out playoff games while they contemplated which team to flip to. The free agency thing is even more outrageous in college - not that players don't deserve compensation after decades of indentured servitude but it's now gotten out of hand to the point that bowl games are meaningless charades.

Wasabi up with UNC?

Gettin’ schooled by UConn

AndyPanda's avatar

UConn is quietly building a solid program. They are getting it done with good offensive line blocking and solid defense. That pretty generally works.

Jim Mora Jr is doing a great job at UConn.

I know many were surprised that they made a bowl

Going full ACC to say "Pop Tarts Bowl before I die."

Love them—worse the better. Seeing other players and rooting for destruction of other teams
