Luke Bottari has stats nearly as good as Aaron Rodgers when the latter was a Butte. That being said, he will never ever get a chance at D1 primarily because he's 5'11 195 pounds on the CCSM roster - which means there's a good chance he's 5'10" 185 pounds. He's fairly accurate on his touch passes, but he lacks the arm strength to zip it in. P5 speed is way faster than CC and he'd get picked off a lot.
I hate to see guys discounted because they're not 6'4" with a rocket arm. Rather than listing successful <6ft QBs (in the NFL let alone college), I'll just say that history tells us that accuracy & intangibles will beat a strong, inaccurate arm every time. He sounds like a perfect fit for a Musgrave offense...
Dang. These guys are committing faster than I can review their highlights.
Mason Starling was a 3-star class of ’18 WR out of Rainier Beach High School in Washington who got an offer from Oregon State and 7 other lesser non-P5 programs. It appears he took a year off in 2019 and then played in ’20 and ’21 for CCSM, including becoming their top receiver. He committed early to FAU, but flipped to Cal.
I couldn’t find any tangible on him apart from his 6’4” height and 185 pound weight. However, he looks heavier than 185 pounds. On tape, he doesn’t look to have blazing speed, but speed can be deceiving on guys who are that tall. He certainly has athleticism, so he should be a classic Z or X receiver – the who is set out wide on an island where a throw will be far and requires a guy who can outjump the defender and stretch out to create a window large enough to throw into.
While Starling’s height will draw immediate comparisons to Trevon Clark and his production at CCSM speak for itself, I can’t say for sure whether he actually has Clark’s speed. I think the better comparison is Tommy Christakos – but with more aggressive hands. I think Starling will be an interesting tool in the receiver corp – one that can add value in outs, go routes, slants, and fades – especially in the red zone. Welcome to Cal, Mason.
That College of San Mateo QB sure looked good throwing to Mason. Is he committed anywhere?

Great size and some speed, too! Nice addition.
Emar’rion Winston just decommitted from the Ducks.....edge rusher out of Portland...... C'mon Bears, go get him!
Ok, not "just", but I just read it...... : )
Welcome Mason! He, Jeremiah Hunter, Monroe, Christakos and J. Michael should be solid....who will are throwing the ball....Adrian Martinez?
Not a huge fan of Martinez. We can do better.
Even better…it would be nice to see the Bears start to pick up some momentum in the wake of the Lanning hire.
Is Musgrave back….
Here's your article. They graduated. Some already had their graduate certificates.
Remigio is leaving as a grad transfer. I assume he could have applied to a graduate program if wanted to stay.
My man you can't just go online and demand an article about super specific topics, that's not how this works lol.
It's the off season live thread
And the individual posts as news break out
