I’m old enough to get this comment even though I don’t remember watching the show.

Mets double-A affiliate (the Rumble Ponies) will be known as the Bathtub Donkeys for a few games this upcoming season to honor a weird local law that prohibits donkeys from sleeping in bathtubs.

Mike Pence comes out against RFK Jr because (checks notes) he's pro-choice.

Nevermind any of that other wackadoodle stuff. It's his abortion stance that's unacceptable.

Happy Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. On Monday we will recognize and honor his legacy by....inaugurating Donald Trump? (Oh for f*ck's sake.)

heyalumnigo's avatar

Waiting to see what Donald Trump says about Dr MLK.

FiatSlug's avatar

Which I hope is NOTHING, only because it would be better than the owner of that fevered brain saying anything about Dr. King, at all.

I’m not a big Al Sharpton fan, but while eating dinner I heard he is having a march in DC on Monday and specified it’s not in opposition to the inauguration but in remembrance of Dr. King. Not sure how true that is, but sounds good to me. I may join in.

FIGHTING A COLD

Sunday afternoon, I had a scratchy throat, a little congestion, and a runny nose. So, I wrote an email to my boss and a few interested others and said, I won't be in tomorrow. I was also out on Tuesday. I spent most of both days sleeping. Made a huge difference in how I feel today. Also, comfort food is a blessing. Soup and grilled cheese. Buttered toast and tea. Those kinds of foods - easy to eat and gets the fluids in me to help drive this bug out of me.

I'm back in the office today, and people are asking me how I feel. I'm answering, "I feel snotty." Which almost always gets them to chuckle, because they know I'm deliberately being silly.

What's your way of fighting a cold?

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

SGBear went to the pulmonologist after fighting something for a few months.

SGBear's avatar

That's true. Caught a cold 13 weeks ago. Scratchy throat, terrible asthma-like cough, and a bit of achy feeling. The aches went away but the cough and sore throat did not. I've been to 9 doctors, which included two rounds of antibiotics. The cumulative medical approach of the first 8 of those doctors was "welp, it's probably not bacterial so it's viral - so unless you take a hard turn toward death, you've got to ride this out and we're not going to look at this any further. Drink water. Get rest." The ninth doctor - my pulmonologist - is the first to be like "being sick going on four months is not normal. Let's A/B test this to figure out what it is and then cure you".

AndyPanda's avatar

So, did he figure out what you are dealing with? Sounds like chronic walking pneumonia from the limited symptoms described.

FiatSlug's avatar

Thanks to the universe for a concerned doctor.

I hope progress is being made.

FiatSlug's avatar

Lord almighty, I hope it doesn't come to that.

But yeah, lingering nonsense becomes concerning after awhile.

Started watching this series on Hulu, about IRA activities during The Troubles in Northern Ireland. Super disturbing and sad, but very well-done.

It’s time for another edition of Oski Disciple’s Question of the Day.

What do cannibals eat if they’re vegan?

heyalumnigo's avatar

Yes! Loved this and the sausage zombies!

Peetyjay's avatar

If said cannibals is vegan based upon a moral objection to taking the life of another sentient being, they can dine at my concept diner. Roadhouse-themed franchise called "Cannibals" where we sale only ethically sourced, lab-grown, human meat.

FiatSlug's avatar

That's a contradiction in terms, isn't it?

They seek out the Invasion of the Plant People.
