Watching the Terror. Netflix miniseries on Sir John Franklin's doomed attempt to navigate the Northwest Passage. Not sure how historically accurate the details may be. Francis Crozier, who was second in command and captain of the Terror and the much more experienced navigator of ice, sure comes across as seeing doom well before and in the show, his warnings to turn back are rebuffed by Franklin.
Went to the movies and midway through I tried to hold her hand. She pulled it away and I thought she didn't like me so no further interaction. We worked near each other and she always looked sad when I had interactions with her after that. Many years later, I realized she was just a rather sheltered 1st generation Chinese-American girl and touching early in a relationship would have been very startling for her whereas for me, it was no big deal and if a 1st date was going well, would've been normal. Ah well...
She proceeded to go to the bar and order drinks that were very very expensive and thought nothing of it. I don't care if she was a model, she was a selfish person.
BERKELEY – After a stellar debut weekend, California women's water polo freshman Rosalie Hassett has been named the MPSF Newcomer of the Week.
The Orinda native was a top contributor for the Golden Bears during their 3-0 start to the 2025 season at the Fresno State Polo-Palooza, as she tallied five goals, four assists, three steals and two drawn exclusions.
California track & field's David Foster and Valentina Savva have been named the ACC Men's Track Athlete and Women's Freshman of the Week, respectively, as announced by the ACC on Tuesday. The Golden Bears are the only ACC team to have two representatives on this week's list.
California senior Isabelle Stadden has been named the ACC Women's Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Stadden broke a pair of Spieker Aquatics Complex records that she previously held last week, including a 50.26 in the 100-yard backstroke during the No. 10 Golden Bears' dual meet victory over No. 18 USC that matched her personal best. Stadden also set a new facility mark in the 200-yard backstroke with a 1:49.96 against the Trojans.
California junior Joshua Thai has been voted as the ACC's Men's Diver of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Thai placed in all three dives at last week's eight-team Cal Diving Invitational - including a victory in the platform dive with a score of 357.00. Thai also took third place in both 1-meter dive (350.80) and 3-meter dive (386.50).
he is not expected back. Eligibility issue just like Chandler Rogers apparently, i.e. the whole JC years dont count thing isnt clear for them for whatever reason.
I can't wait to piss on Mark Emmert's grave. He did this. The NCAA had one job and he went full Ayn Rand as its CEO. Nothing but chaos since then, to the detriment of Cal football.

It’s on streaming on Netflix but I thought this was an AMC mini series? It is on my watch list.
make it so .. says Picard to Riker about 8 million times
It’s time once again for Oski Disciple’s Question of the Day.
Have you ever thanked someone for a kind act and they said don’t mention it but you went ahead and mentioned it anyway?
No, I haven't repeated myself in thanking someone.
"Don't mention it" is an idiomatic expression in that the intended recipient of that expression has already done just that: they've mentioned it.
i dont think so. it is not clear what the right response is.
me: thanks for buying me dinner
you: dont mention it:
me: well thanks for buying me dinner (is that mentioning it?)
Lawyerly response: The motion to "not mention it" is granted. I move to strike my "thanks." Let the record so reflect.
Why did that person not get a second date?
was the date the girl in the back seat or the guinea pig in the front seat?
There's some frosty energy coming off the back seat.
Most often for being negative and self obsessed. If you are that way when single in your 20s, it is not going to get anything but worse!
i have never had this experience. only been on the receiving end ..
Did you admit you did a little occasional/recreational heroin?
i should have disclosed that. maybe it was obvious i was hiding something!

She "Lost my number".
He didn't wear shoes on the first date, and we were not at or near the beach.
She talked the whole time mostly about herself not making the slightest effort to get to know me. Plus she admitted to occasionally using heroin.
Was the heroin thing a plus or minus? 😂
I was then a practicing addict/alcoholic but I drew the line at heroin. So minus.
She proceeded to go to the bar and order drinks that were very very expensive and thought nothing of it. I don't care if she was a model, she was a selfish person.

Go Bears!!! Trump may now be president but we've still got the Axe.
Cal DB Matthew Littlejohn withdraws his name from the portal.
It is unclear if he has any eligibility left, but if he does - looks like we got a returning nickelback.
he is not expected back. Eligibility issue just like Chandler Rogers apparently, i.e. the whole JC years dont count thing isnt clear for them for whatever reason.
I think Littlejohn does have eligibility left. He played at JC in 2021 and 2022, then played at Cal in 2023 and 2024.
On the other hand, Rogers played 4 years at FCS/FBS level after his JC years, so he's out of eligibility.
In the age of NIL I find the question of eligibility absurd.
word on another site is he has no eligibility left for whatever reason. Shrug...he wont be around regardless
