Actually trying to actually win despite Dave Robert's management of a wealth of resources. If you can't maximize resources, throw more resources at the problem.
I'd argue that he managed this postseason almost perfectly. Went with bullpen games which succeeded more often than not. Hopefully he's learning more to manage with his gut than just what the numbers say. In the past, he would've pulled Treinan in the top of the 8th in game 5. First when he went out the first time, and then after he got Stanton on 1 pitch after the visit. He's admitted as much.
He did seem to improve this past year, but the bullpen game strategy was worrisome at the time, even though it worked. I would counter that the inability to keep pitchers healthy for the post season has been a problem for years with him, given what he has, and is supposed to, work with. Should not get into a position of the best pitchers not available at the most important times. and getting into position of needing to rely on a bullpen game when they shouldn't.
After a heartbreaking and deflating loss on Wednesday in which they blew a 17-point halftime lead against the Sacramento Kings, the Golden State Warriors got an immediate chance to put it in the rearview mirror. They hosted the Chicago Bulls on Thursday, and I was fascinated to see how they would respond.
The script "Cali" logo on sweatshirts has always bugged me. Isn't the script "Cal" trademarked? Wouldn't the identically scripted "Cali" be a too-close infringement?
Hate that script so much. Also, "Cali" = "San Fran," so cringey. Also bugs me that this apparel is worn by those driving lowered Honda Accords, tinted windows, cheap cherry fragrance, while vaping in the car. So anti-Cal.
STANFORD (AP) - Kayla Williams scored 18 points, Ioanna Krimili added 17 and No. 22 California held on to beat Stanford 75-72 on Thursday night for the Golden Bears' first season sweep of the Cardinal in 39 years. The win also marked the Golden Bears' first win at Maples Pavilion since the 2014-15 season and was Stanford's only second loss at home this season.
Coming off an almost perfect opening dual-match weekend, the California men's tennis team hits the road to play twice at UC Santa Barbara this weekend, with the Golden Bears facing Texas Tech on Saturday and the host Gauchos on Sunday. The Bears have a 2-0 record after routing Saint Mary's 6-1 last Saturday and 7-0 on Monday.
Nearly two weeks after its season opener, California men's gymnastics will leave Berkeley for the first time this season, heading to Stanford Saturday evening for the Stanford Open. The meet will also feature host Stanford and Ohio State, both top-five squads nationally.
California infielder Elon Butler was named to the 2025 ACC Softball Preseason All-ACC Team, the conference office announced Thursday afternoon.
Butler returns for her third season in a Golden Bear uniform after a stellar sophomore campaign, in which she was named a NFCA All-American (second team) in addition to earning spots on the NFCA All-Region First Team and All-Pac-12 Second Team.
How exactly does that argument work. If the person was clearly born in the U.S. how are they denied birthright citizenship. Is there some argument about not being subject to the jurisdiction, which seems like a backward argument.

Dear agency employees,
We are taking steps to close all agency DEIA offices and end all DEIA-related contracts in accordance with President Trump’s executive orders titled Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing and Initial Rescissions of Harmful Executive Orders and Actions.
These programs divided Americans by race, wasted taxpayer dollars, and resulted in shameful discrimination.
We are aware of efforts by some in government to disguise these programs by using coded or imprecise language. If you are aware of a change in any contract description or personnel position description since November 5, 2024 to obscure the connection between the contract and DEIA or similar ideologies, please report all facts and circumstances to DEIAtruth@opm.gov within 10 days.
There will be no adverse consequences for timely reporting this information. However, failure to report this information within 10 days may result in adverse consequences.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
What I heard is that all NIH “study groups” that review grants have been paused. Probably not forever, but unfortunately folks at universities missing paychecks is a feature for this administration.
Maybe the early beginnings of a trend since we are in the early stages of the burn it down crowd having sway.
My theory is that the intercollegiate landscape is changing rapidly and it will be heavily influenced by what happens with college football due to its ability to generate revenues. NIL remains an unknown factor of influence; it can make or break programs.
Title IX is in for rocky times as the anti-woke people will not care about enforcement. It remains to be seen what effect that will have.
Too many variables to accurately predict whether Sonoma State is a harbinger or an outlier. But the one thing that is certain is uncertainty itself.
We’re passing through peak college enrollment right now. Demographic trends mean that there will be fewer college students in a decade, and that’s going to disproportionately hit smaller schools.
my graduate thesis project was called HEAT - High Energy Antimatter Telescope. i worked on it for about 7 years.
it was basically a particle detector hoisted into space by a helium balloon and it floated around for 18-36 hours trying to detect protons and anti-protons.
the idea is that there should not be many anti-protons around. because of conservation of energy/charge rules, high energy collisions in interstellar space can create a matter-antimatter pair. then that anti-proton can travel virtually untouched for 1000's of years and eventually get detected by HEAT because space is mostly empty.
the scientific reason for doing this experiment was to validate if certain types of "new particles" might be out there in the form of dark matter and it could possibly contribute to an unexpected number of anti-protons.
needless to say, we did not find any smoking gun signature of what the dark matter might be made out of. everyone is still looking for it in the form of new particles or this even-more-mysterious dark energy
