I'm glad to see that I have avoided choosing one of the most popular PINs as explained in the article. It makes sense that people would choose birth years as a PIN. A sobering thing is that the year in which Mrs Slug and I were married is probably the most popular 4-digit year within memory. I don't use that year as a 4-digit PIN, but I do use 4-digit street addresses, just not where I live now. I wouldn't want someone to steal my wallet, have access to my DL and then use that info to guess my PIN.
For night/late afternoon games, I've always looked West of Dana starting Channing and Haste. I usually go down Haste from Dana because they start 2 hour parking until 6 PM from that point. Then you can just walk down Dana right into Haas.
THOUSAND OAKS – The California men's golf team found itself in the thick of a talented 14-team field after 18 holes played Monday at the Southwestern Invitational. The Golden Bears shot a spring-opening, 9-over-par 293 at Sherwood Country Club and are tied for eighth with 36 holes remaining.
The Atlantic Coast Conference announced its complete 2025 football schedule Monday with Cal's slate highlighted by its ACC home opener Oct. 4 vs. Duke. The Golden Bears also have home conference dates with North Carolina (Oct. 16/17), Virginia (Nov. 1) and SMU (Nov. 29).
SANTA BARBARA – The California men's tennis team remained perfect in the early days of the dual-match season after shutting out UC Santa Barbara 4-0 on Monday at the Arnhold Tennis Center. Timofey Stepanov – one of five nationally ranked Cal singles players in action Monday – clinched the victory for the 4-0 Golden Bears, who persevered despite the rescheduling of the match from Sunday due to rain and further delays Monday due to wet courts.
Incoming California freshman Aliyahna "Puff" Morris has been selected to play in the 2025 McDonald's All-American Game as announced by the McDonald's All American Games Selection Committee on Monday. Morris, the 24th-ranked high school player in the country according to ESPN, is part of the California Golden Bears' 22nd-ranked 2025 recruiting class and is the first Cal McDonald's All-American since Kristine Anigwe made the team in 2015. This year's McDonald's All-American Game will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on April 1 at 3 p.m. PT and will be televised on ESPN2.
CHARLOTTE – California freshman guard Jeremiah Wilkinson was voted as the ACC Men's Basketball Co-Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced Monday. Wilkinson – who shared the weekly honor with Duke's Cooper Flagg – led the Golden Bears to a home sweep of Florida State and Miami, averaging 24.0 points per game in his first two career starts.

All Federal grant & loan payment disbursements paused (except to individual voters like Social Security & Medicare). Guess which color states get an outsized portion of those halted payments?
The wording of the pause is so broad and poorly drafted, it could also include federally insured mortgages like FHA loans- nothing like shutting down a big chunk of the mortgage business on a whim (or idiotic mistake).
Well, at least some things remain functional. FHA put out a memo this afternoon that they were able to clarify with OMB that FHA mortgage loan activity not subject to the federal funds pause.
The White House had to release a new memo clarifying that direct benefits to citizens like these (and SNAP and Medicaid) are not to be paused . . . but not before the HHS funding portal got shut down and everyone spent the day unable to access it.
Ahh, that good old Trump chaos, I remember it well!
There have been four recent incidents I have experienced or read about that have raised this issue to me:
1) two weeks ago, I witnessed a car on the block where I live driving with its headlights off *after* dark,
2) the evening of the next day, I witnessed a car nearly hitting a pedestrian in an intersection about 2 blocks from home. It was dark out, the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing, and the other driver clearly wasn't paying attention;
3) this past weekend, during daylight hours (early afternoon), a pedestrian was hit and killed by a driver who may have been unfamiliar with the area in North Berkeley (near Monterey Market), and
4) this morning well before sunrise or even the start of civil twilight while driving to BART, I witnessed a car driving without its lights on in a direction opposite to me. I suspect it may be the same vehicle and driver I saw in #1 above.
People are doing stupid things out there on the roads. Please be safe and keep your head on a swivel.
I've taught my kids, as a pedestrian (particularly in crosswalk or intersection), always assume a car does not see you. Proceed cautiously, make eye contact, wave and wait for a return wave back..
I often walk over to the free shows that start at 6 pm at the Kennedy Center crossing the Roosevelt Bridge. The bridge is about half a mile long and this winter I’ve routinely counted half a dozen cars driving with no lights at or after dark.
Here in SF, cars and bicycles and other vehicles run red lights and stop signs all the time. I hear cars honking there horns at this at the intersection near my house daily. Haven’t personally witnessed an injury yet but I expect to.

My codes are always based on the uniform numbers of athletes that I remember well. (No, I won't tell you which ones.)
Hmm...who had uniform number 1111 or 1234?
Warren Moon, Cam Newton, Ozzie Smith, DeSean Jackson (at Cal)
No 2 and 3 remembered their cell phone numbers by equating them to players. Something like, Tim Brown, Gavin Lux, etc.
Warren Moon was one of my all time favorites

I guess? Again, very unclear. And also still illegal, if that money has already been assigned for that purpose by Congress.
