I'm a big fan of anchovies on pizza. So much umami.

And it's defense against my wife ordering a salad and then deciding that half of my pizza was actually what she wanted for dinner.

heyalumnigo's avatar

No 1 likes eating anchovies straight from the can. He did put some on one of the pizzas I made and I will have to say, it wasn't too bad, in limited quantity. I guess my tastes have changed a little since I was little.

Wiata78's avatar

I think anchovies is an ingredient in Caesar salad. Also A-1 steak sauce.

heyalumnigo's avatar

Anchovies definitely are. Not sure about A-1 though.

Wiata78's avatar

Sorry, I meant Worcestershire sauce!

Anything with Pineapple. Fruit (tomatoes excepted) do not belong on pizza.

Oski Disciple's avatar

If people want fruit on their pizza it very much belongs for them. I don't know why folks worry about what other people have on their pizza.

Freedom of choice is a great thing. More for me, then!

Rae Moulton's avatar

Agree. Hard to beat the combo of savory (pepperoni or Canadian bacon) with pineapple for me.

Back in the day, a Japanese friend and I liked to put squid on pizza we made. Strangely, a lot of non-Asian people didn’t like it.

sycasey's avatar

I tried anchovy pizza once. Never again.

AndyPanda's avatar

I never tried it once. And never again is still too often!

When I did my EAP year abroad in England, tuna and corn pizza was all the rage. I did NOT adopt that Britishism.

heyalumnigo's avatar

Ewww. Though in Taiwan they put seafood on pizza. The Costco combo pizza was something like Shrimp and one other seafood. It actually wasn't bad. Generally I do not get seafood on my pizza, but we wanted to try a slice.

SGBear's avatar

Speaking of ewww. All the mayonnaise and corn on pizzas in Asia.

FiatSlug's avatar

That sounds remarkably random.

I'm... surprised.

If anyone decided to stop watching after the first quarter, they'd be shocked.

Glad for RP that he was able to do that in front of his hometown crowd.

Listened to SplitZoneDuo podcast yesterday, their recap of the cfb season per their commentators predictions. Sigh, early on I heard mention of Florida State and their "sole FBS win by 5 over Cal" entirely regarding a FSU prediction. Well, I thought, that's out of the way. No toward the end of p-cast it was repeated over and over to emphasize FSU shortcomings....with Cal just along for the ride...but I could hear the dog or bear whistle.

When they reviewed the most interesting games of the season, Cal - Miami came up in passing with the take home word being "messy."

FiatSlug's avatar

This is at the basis of my unhappiness with campus administration's support of Cal football: the loss to FSU is just more evidence that football is tolerated a whole lot. If they could find a way to ditch football without bringing on a firestorm of criticism, they would.

Republican rep suggests that DEI may be at fault for tragic mid-air crash. There is no bottom. https://bsky.app/profile/duhburnz.bsky.social/post/3lgxonwhwsc2m

FiatSlug's avatar

It's way past time to punch back on these creeps that want to burn down everything. It's more likely that the GOP's longtime hostility towards air traffic controllers (since Reagan fired all of them in 1981) is to blame.

GoldenSD81's avatar

Democrats need to have a unified message and punch back. Go low, no more moral high ground. If Biden were still president, trump would have tweeted immediately that this was all Biden fault. Hell, he is currently blaming this on Biden and Dems and DEI.

JeriAnn May's avatar

I heard Trump had letters sent to ATC that they should quit? Is this true first of all, and secondly why? Not that this a$$hole ever needs any valid reason to do anything. He and all his cronies make me sick to my stomach. How many more days do we have to go?

sycasey's avatar

I love how everyone just knows what the cause of a tragic event was immediately after it happens. No need to investigate or anything!

dcblue's avatar

I just turned on the TV and that is all Trump is talking about. No mention of the families.

heyalumnigo's avatar

And just like that, Trump goes straight to blaming the democrats for putting politics over safety. I hired the smartest ATC people ever!

heyalumnigo's avatar

Now he's just rambling.

heyalumnigo's avatar

All he had to do was STFU after talking about the crash and the deaths.

dcblue's avatar

Yeah, when I happened to turn the tv on he was rambling so bad I almost, but not quite, felt sorry for him. But it was sorry to watch the President be so out of it.

It’s time once again for Oski Disciple’s Question of the Day.

Are Fabergé eggs better scrambled or poached?

SGBear's avatar

99% of what I know about Faberge eggs is from the movie Octopussy. I recall seeing one in London and thought it was an interesting piece of engineering, but the whole thing seemed like doing something difficult for difficulty's sake - something only a monarch could command people to commit so many resources to do. It made me feel slightly uneasy about it because it seemed like... exploitation.

heyalumnigo's avatar

I had forgotten about that in Octopussy. I learned how to steal one by watching Oceans 12.
