It’s time once again for Oski Disciple’s Question of the Day.

Where can one find the woke agenda? Are there hard copies or is just online?

Expand full comment

aside from the mirth in the question. i do hear from some more middle-of-the-road Dems that they think that "they have pushed too hard on the woke agenda"

my own questions today ..

which "they" are they referring to? why are white women who struggled mightily for themselves and still treated unfairly saying this?

Sources: De'Aaron Fox to Spurs, Zach LaVine to Kings in 3-team trade

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/43670995/kings-trading-deaaron-fox-spurs-multiteam-deal-zach-lavine-sacramento

The Sacramento Kings are finalizing a trade to send De'Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs and acquire Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine as part of a three-team trade involving multiple players and draft picks, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania on Sunday.

Expand full comment

Kings got a lot of picks for De'Aaron Fox and Kevin Huerter. I don't think they can turn around and trade Zach Lavine again for more picks in the next few days. I think they have to wait until the summer.

Luka for AD in a terribly lopsided deal. What were the Mavs thinking?

https://apnews.com/article/luka-doncic-anthony-davis-lakers-mavericks-trade-7c8064be5c8e941489f14500fa43f5e7

Expand full comment

Either the Mavs know something and are getting rid of him for almost nothing, or I'm thinking he isn't serious about conditioning and never wants to address it.

Expand full comment

Even if they just wanted to get away from Luka because they think he won't age well, it's insane to only offer him to one team and basically take the first deal they got. They surely could have gotten more for a player with his resume.

Expand full comment

You also can't discount the possibility that his agent(s) might be real pains to deal with. But I think physical conditioning and/or injury severity is a much more likely explanation.

It would be a PR disaster if the NFL did anything.

Same idea applies to players accused of misconduct (Justin Tucker) or assault and domestic violence (Ray Rice). You only discipline as little as needed to allow the controversy to pass.

It will allow Pete Carroll to focus on fiddling with the defense, while Chip tries to come up with an offense.

Don't know how well this will work against Andy Reid and the Chiefs, but it sure looks like the Raiders are readying to make a run thru the Pac-12.

Probably a good thing for Cal fans that the Bears don't have the Raiders on their non-conference schedule this fall, even given that's the level the Raiders operated at the past couple of years.

They should also hire Jeff Tedford as QB coach and Mike Riley as DB coach.

Canada is strictly diversionary. So is the demand for Mexican troops to the border.

My personal feeling is that the real action is with the payment systems and the attempts to force the defunding of appropriations already signed into legislation. The action of the Treasury Secretary to allow access by non-government employees to the payments and disbursements system should be an immense red flag to everyone in the United States.

I don't trust these clowns at all and neither should you. When you grant access by non-governmental employees to disbursements systems, you are giving the keys to the treasury to thieves.

I’m not not not understanding what it going on. It bothers me that this is likely their intent.

Expand full comment

People have to understand that constant chaos and endless upheaval is Trump's management style, regardless of the issue, or whether you are in favor or against his position and agenda on any given issue, which is completely separate.

It puts everyone off balance and on their heels, because there is no warning, or ability to evaluate any initiative, or plan for it and its effects, before the next distraction, which gives Trump the "advantage" of walking away for the ones that blow up, and initiating whatever the next idea is.

This is not a unique approach, there are others that employ this as well, but it is unsettling when dealing with big picture issues and institutions, where the stakes tend to call for a measured and planned approach, whichever side of the issue you land on.

This is more disturbing than even the worst of his ideas, because of the potential for disaster from ideas not thought through, even when the premise of the action is actually good.

My trans daughter - who is an adult - was notified that gender-affirming services are no longer available. As a reminder, Trump announced outlawing gender-affirming service to minors -but my daughter is an adult. And these type of services are not available anywhere but Planned Parenthood. This is in NYC - not Lawrence KS. I am not sure what happened, but I have no doubt that that Orange Fuck is behind this. She is still under my insurance - so now we have to be medical refugees and have to go to Canada for services as a backup if Planned Parenthood falls through. I have resources, so this is an inconvenience - but this is going to be a very long 4 years.

This is definitely a different presidential term, with 4 years of hard and actually critical thought given by many on the far right how exactly to best press these issues. (though OPB should have given a little more thought and review to that piss poor drafting of the funding freeze memo-- though maybe that was purposefully set up as a test as well...
