Shrinking Season 3 Ep 1 (Apple TV 18/19). Just finished season 3 episode 1. I missed this show. Love the people in it and they have great chemistry. Glad it's back.
Luge is such an odd and seemingly inaccessible sport. But still fun to watch the women's replay last night. We also watched men's slalom section of the combine. Also thoroughly enjoyed women's skiatholon Sunday night, though US didn't fare well. The energy output without any water or refueling is just insane. It's like a 55 minute sprint!
Super pumped for today's mixed doubles curling gold medal game. Cory and Korey have been so much fun to watch, so far. Sweden's gonna be tough, though.
I missed the game. Was at a friend's mom's Shiva. I guess the team missing Steph and Jimmy B struggling to beat the Grizz without JJJ and Ja is where the team should be. Though like usual Ty Jerome (a better Pat Spencer) went off against the Ws. What is it with former Warriors going off against the Warriors?
More than 100 faculty, staff, students, alumni and industry partners gathered at California Memorial Stadium on Feb. 4 for the inaugural Winning Analytics Summit, a daylong exploration of how UC Berkeley’s expertise in data science can transform competitive athletics.
The California volleyball team picked up another middle blocker transfer for the 2026 season, announcing the addition of incoming graduate student Cari Bohm to its roster. Bohm, a 6-foot-4 middle blocker who spent the 2022-25 seasons at Illinois and compiled 243 career blocks across 62 total matches with a 1.06 blocks-per-set average, will join the Golden Bears this fall.
A few years back, went to usual sushi spot with my wife on Valentine's Day. It was a good reminder of why we don't celebrate this Hallmark Holiday as the service was so slow compared to usual. Last weekend of the month, we are heading to SF for a show on a Friday night then to Solage in Calistoga on a Saturday night for some connection time. Completely unrelated to Valentines Day, though.
(Especially) In a time when positives in our lives are being overrun by things that are not, this is a cause for a big smile. And a hug if you are lucky.
Hey, is this thing still on? I think its been over a year since I've posted on DBD. Job promotion 11 months ago has been a time suck! Glad to see the usuals still slumming around here!
Thank you! Mountains are lovely despite now snow. More mountain biking than skiing for this time of year but my son and I are taking Friday off to enjoy some of the fresh snow arriving midweek. Also, I am recovering from a torn meniscus so was kind of okay with a busted ski season. I assume your ski season has been about as good as the snow itself? I flew over the Rockies a few weeks ago en route to DC and saw they weren't faring much better than the Sierra mountains.
we are getting excellent snow out East. in fact Jay Peak might have among the most snow of N American resorts.
i too have some knee injury from my 2nd day of skiing this season. hopefully just a small setback.
we bought a house in Burlington, so there is more skiing (and XC skiing) in our future. also the plan is to ski @ Mammoth in mid-March during UW spring break for older child.
Nice to hear you have snow to go with the cold weather! I was on the East Coast a few days after Fern and was surprised that 12" of snow shut down DC and Philly. But also, I couldn't tell how much snow that meant for mountainous areas. Mammoth in March sounds amazing! Our Spring Break is in April. We are headed to Havasu Falls for four days!

The end of the semi-final last night against the Italians was fantastic! Who knew that curling could be so compelling?
When is the gold medal game?
Looks like it finished. /nospoilers

When do the Bananas start?
Oh that's a good question. Their first game is Thursday, February 26. So I would assume they've started workouts.
wait, they still play baseball?
(Sorry, I didn't intend to yuck anyone's yum, as my daughters might say. It's just that I'm from Oakland, so...well, you understand...)
We never made it out to a Ballers game last year but I want to try to go to games this year.
May John Fisher die in a vat of flaming habanero peppers... or worse!

i agree it has been overdone. i still sort of like it though.

the last Sundance in Park City was apparently a disaster for skiers
