Despite taking Professor Alan Dundes' Folklore class, I hadn't even crossed my mind that Ding Dong Ditch could be named anything else.

Doorbell Ditch in my hometown. In my current location, teens have taken it up a notch by ditching the doorbell and kicking the doors- footprint on our door as gift that kept giving. Definitely karma for my own rounds of doorbell ditch, but these kicking kids are going to get shot (not by us!).

I am choosing to interpret that map as further proof that the further south in England that you get from the border with Scotland, the more biased they are against Scottish people

I picked up on that, too, though I doubt my sense of it could be anywhere as clear-cut as yours.

EDIT: it also seems to me that the pejorative "ginger" in this case could also apply to anti-Irish sentiment.

Come to think of it, I've known it as Doorbell Ditch. I've heard that it's sometimes accentuated with a flaming bag of dog excrement.

The chart in the post is interesting. I wonder what a similar chart for the United States would show.

I’m coming to think that it doesn’t matter if they’re baseless, if you can come up with conspiracy theories that have some appeal, that address some sort of need, then there is money to be made. If they’re baseless than it’s unethical of course, but clearly that doesn’t stop a lot of people.

An un-healthy person who does not understand health care or science in charge of health care. This scares me almost as much as putting a guy who doesn't understand law enforcement as a component of community dynamics, or the logistics of operations, in charge of the FBI.

Even if you set aside baffling policy views, these are operations where if something goes wrong, people die. People who don't understand enough to know what they don't know making the kind of decisions involved is scary dangerous. After all, what could go wrong?
