Academy Award-winning actor and Fauquier County resident Robert Duvall has died at 95.
He died at his Fauquier County home, according to reports.
Duvall, who spent most of his later years at his farm in The Plains, was best known for his roles in "The Godfather," "Lonesome Dove" and "Apocalypse Now." He won an Oscar for best actor in 1983 for his role in "Tender Mercies."
He was a longtime conservationist and advocate for protecting open spaces in Fauquier and across the country.
