Reminds me of the segment David Letterman used to do where he would have the local deli guy, Rupert, attempt to put exactly 1 lb of meat on the scale.

I play a game where I try to purposely underestimate my deli order so that after they inevitably go "oops, it's a little over... is this amount okay" that it's actually for the amount that I really wanted.

I was doing laundry Friday night and turned on the TV while waiting for the wash. Cal-KState was on the MLB channel and I got to see the last few innings. I hadn’t realized it was going to be on.

Expand full comment

That 1st inning was brutal for the starter; 2 hits,, 3 walks, 3 runs, and 2 mound visits before getting yanked after 2/3 inning. Relief came in and got the last out on 3 straight strikes. I’m hoping Neu has a better handle on pitching this year bc in the past he would have let the starter finish the inning and possibly start the second.
