Haven't seen TBB here for awhile, but the last Mini-Meta meta was meant for her! ;-)

I f*cking hate this time change.

I wouldn't be as virulently against DST if it ***started later in the year,*** like, say, the 1st or 2nd Sunday in April. There is a solid reason for this.

The 1st Sunday in April, the sun will rise at about 5:45 AM PST or 6:45 AM PDT, which is about 43 minutes sooner than 7:28 AM, which was today's sunrise time. It makes a difference if people are beginning the day in darkness or light. I don't mind getting up in darkness; I do it quite frequently and for most of the year. I object to start my commute after the beginning of civil twilight (first light) in February, then plunging back into darkness in March because the start of Daylight Saving has forced that schedule change.

Whether I'm walking to BART or driving to BART in the morning, if I'm doing it in darkness, I'm less safe and ***others are less safe*** than if my morning commute starts in the early twilight of the day.

I also want DST to end in October, not November, and for similar reasons.

Yup, the DST creep is the big problem. Start in April and end in October, as originally intended.

I still work from home and don't have to get up super early anymore- I was glad for the extra darkness this morning (though realize not great for all). The extra hour of light during Atlanta summer patio season is also pretty prized here. I think it really makes a different where you live within a timezone (and in case of Atlanta, humidity zone- going outside 10-6 not pleasurable).

it is like you have jet lag.

Very apt description. The change to DST = legally induced jet lag.

I had Trix recently and noticed some color in my urine after. Enough of that.

Fruit loops were a repeat buy when we were allowed sugar cereal. I may have recently taste-tested the new Fruit Loops with Marshmallows (think Lucky Charms)...

My parents would never buy us the really sugary stuff. I liked Kix and Crispix.

I saw where Notre Dame beat Cal in 4 OTs.

Must have been great tv; Bears should renegotiate their deal.

Collin Morikawa can’t get anything going on Sunday and comes up one stroke short but still earns $2.2 million. Michael Kim with another solid tournament finishes fourth and earns $1 million. Ben An finishes t8 for $600,000. Good week for the Bears.

Warriors on a roll. beat both NY teams and on a 4 game win streak, up to 6th place in Western conf standings which is very crowded at spots 6-9.

at least Ws are able to play w/ some semblance of poise in the closing minutes of games these days.

Just glad they're entertaining again! The season was feeling like a slog until Jimmy Butler showed up.

at the end of the last game, Ws were tied w/ 30 sec to go to. Draymond gets the go-ahead 3 and then get the ball on defense and gets fouled (makes 1 of 2). essentially wraps up the game w/ 4 points near the end.

Of course we knew the "free speech" crowd wasn't actually about free speech, just about wanting to be the ones doing the censoring, but still this is chilling.

The reporting that pieces together Musk-Theil-Yarvin is very disturbing, as Yarvin's roadmap plays out in real time. Thoughts from others?

I read some of the neoreaction stuff back when Yarvin was still pseudonymous (as Moldbug, a much better name). It was logorrheic nonsense then and now. I’m deeply depressed it is now is influencing the direction of our nation.

I don’t think Yarvin is actually as influential as people make him out to be. He’s just a nerd who suggested to the billionaire VC class that they should rightfully be in charge of everything, an idea they were ready and willing to run with.

I’m currently reading Blowout (catching up on my reading in retirement). Well researched and thorough. Shudder-worthy of course. Putin’s filthy power maneuvering is and has been a model for Trump and his money hungry like all around the globe for a long time. No surprise he has Trump doing his bidding these days.
