One Battle After Another got Best Picture and the most Oscars. Sinners got the second most. Some Sinners fans on the Internet seem to have decided this means OBAA is racist.
hosting some sort of "IU students visit NYC" event tonight. about 15+ students on spring break in NYC that are having a series of talks and experiences and career exposure.
the one is very casual. a little appetizer situtation and mingling w/ some local alumni
also football and college sports, have people heard about this?
Trump’s college sports roundtable including Nick Saban and Urban Meyer to talk daunting issues
College sports remain at a crossroads. And the president of the United States is once again getting involved.
President Donald Trump is slated to host a panel on the future of college athletics Friday at the White House, featuring an extensive committee of key stakeholders, professional sports figures, politicians and business leaders. The meeting has been confirmed and is expected to take place as scheduled, according to people briefed on the event who were granted anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss it publicly.
Tokyo is my favorite of the Asian cities i have been. i appreciate there would be challenges but it would be the one i would have loved to have lived in for a while.
i havent fully explored the rest of Japan. i am there are a some very pleasant places if one was not a gaijin.
Taipei- went back to Taiwan for the first time in 30 years last year with friends as my parents stopped bringing me as a kid due to "allergies." I also didn't have time prior due to work, education, etc.
Air pollution got better in the past 30 years but a late Spring baseline AQI of 100 in the city meant that I probably shouldn't have run outside as much as I did while there.
On the plus side- cheap food, merchandise at the malls that are unique or hard to find in the US, and got to finally experince a tech mall. Made easier by me being able to speak Mandarin, albeit somewhat poorly due to depreciated vocab
We went as a family in 85. Then I hadn't been back to Taipei until 2014 when I went for work a couple of times and saw a bunch of relatives. Took my kids back at the end of 2023 for a week. no 2 and 3 had to come back for spring semester after 1 week. Obviously it is so different when compared to 85. I do remember seeing the smog layer when landing in 85.
Oscars
didnt watch. what did i miss?

My opinion: both movies were great!
Some nice tributes to Rob Reiner and Robert Redford.
Like the State of the Union, I can’t remember the last time I watched.

Cal
Madsen leaving Cal hoops?
i figured we'd be losing the good players to NIL and that Madsen would be around for a bit.
PRO
Warriror lose at MSG after being up 20 in first half. normally i would have gone to this game. didnt seem as exciting w/o Steph playing.
Ws had a few chances late in the game to tie or take the lead. there was no real go-to person to make it happen.
WORDLE
Chess.
i was playing online regularly for a while and have not done so in a few months. it was a lot of work. and i was improving only very slowly.
barely able to get my chess.com rating to stabilize at 900 - for reference 1300 is a "competitive beginner"
forgot to start the games and diversions category
