Also in the Catskills - Mount Wittenberg. Hiked it in the same trip as Table Mountain. Summit is at 3,782 ft. Thing about Wittenberg is that you think you're approaching the summit only to find there's another ridge ahead of you, and then another ridge, and then another, ...and so on.
The view from the top of Wittenberg, though is amazing.
Maybe a ham and cheese sandwich on a slice of round Hawaiian bread. I went to H-Mart after a Miata drive this weekend and got a couple of rounds of Hawaiian bread. H-Mart is the only place I've found in the area that has round Hawaiian bread.
Yesterday I had a ham and cheese melt on a slice of Hawaiian bread.
Some 200 or so people were just snatched up and taken to a prison in El Salvador under the claim that they were members of a Venezuelan gang. Only it seems pretty clear that some of these guys are not in a gang and they got no opportunity to prove it before being flown out of the country. Really bad. If they can do this to these folks, they can do it to anybody.
The administration's tortured justification for this involves invoking the Alien Enemies Act, a.k.a. the same law used to justify Japanese internment during WW2. And back then, we were ACTUALLY at war with Japan! This interpretation would allow the government to just decide any country is an enemy combatant because of some bad thing that's coming from there and therefore arrest anyone from that place and intern them without due process. Very bad!
I suspect it also relies on the assertion of the alleged bad guys being terrorists, which carries with it the unspoken assertion that terrorists do not represent a government pe se nor do they recognize boundaries.
TUCSON, Ariz. – Senior Charlie Berridge owns a share of the individual lead and the California men's golf team is just two strokes off the team lead through 36 holes played at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate. The conclusion of the second round was suspended due to darkness and will be completed Tuesday morning, but Cal had already completed the round prior to play being halted.
CARSON - The California lacrosse team headed down to Southern California for a neutral site game against Marist University on Monday and secured a 14-10 victory at Dignity Health Sports Park. Cal has now won all but one nonconference game this season.
Four members of the No. 6 California women's gymnastics team earned a total of 13 All-ACC honors, the conference announced Monday.
Senior Mya Lauzon and junior eMjae Frazier were the only two gymnasts to be named All-ACC in all five disciplines. Senior Maddie Williams earned the honor for the uneven bars and floor exercise and sophomore Kyen Mayhew was given the nod for vault.
MID-WEEK SUCCESS - Cal plays its third mid-week game of the season Tuesday at Saint Mary's with the Bears victorious in each of the first two, both at home. Cal was a 6-5 walk-off winner over Cal State Bakersfield in 11 innings on Feb. 26 and won 9-4 against Utah last Tuesday.
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The No. 9 California women's swimming & diving team has a strong contingent heading to Federal Way, Washington, this week for the 2025 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center.
As pro sports steadily move into the streaming video era, the San Francisco Giants, Golden State Warriors, San Jose Sharks and the Sacramento A’s and Kings are joining the procession.
Tuesday morning, NBCUniversal is announcing that NBC Sports Bay Area, which carries the Giants and Warriors, and NBC Sports California, which airs the Sharks, A’s and Kings, will be available on NBC’s Peacock streaming service for additional monthly fees; a subscription to Peacock is also required.
The Northern California teams’ broadcasts are also already available on multi-channel streaming services such as YouTubeTV and Fubo. This service is additive – if you already have access to the Giants and Warriors through those services or via your cable subscription or Xfinity, those subscriptions still have you covered.
Peacock will charge $17.95 per month for each of the Northern California regional sports networks, so if you’d like to watch, say, the Giants and the A’s, you’d have to purchase both NBC Sports Bay Area and NBC Sports California. The Kings will continue to be blacked out in the greater Bay Area and the Warriors will remain blacked out in the Sacramento area, just as they are on traditional cable television.
COMMENTARY: I have YouTube TV and Peacock subscriptions. If I were to add the RSNs to my Peacock subscription, I'd dump YouTube TV during baseball season, except during August, when Little League World Series is being played. To watch the LLWS you need to have access to ESPN, which for me means having a YouTube TV subscription.
The Athletics faced off against the Seattle Mariners today at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Arizona in this season’s latest spring training matchup. The Mariners entered today’s game with a 7-16 record while the Athletics are currently 12-12. A’s skipper Mark Kotsay sent 28-year-old lefty Hogan Harris to the mound to face righty Casey Lawrence for Seattle.
The Dodgers were without two of their three best hitters, but patience paid off. A strong start by Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the mound helped ease the burden in a 4-1 win over the Cubs on opening day Tuesday at the Tokyo Dome in Japan.
I was tempted to try to find a place to go for a week after Singapore so I could go to these games in Japan. But, I had heard that there weren't a lot of tickets available and I probably wouldn't want to pay what it would cost to go.
The Denver Nuggets played Monday night without MVP Nikola Jokic, star guard Jamal Murray, and shooting guard Christian Braun. The Golden State Warriors appeared to adjust their effort accordingly.

Mountain
There's one in the Catskills (NY). I backpacked it in 1978 (I think).
putting it on the list. the Catskills are underrated in terms of how rugged they are because of lack of tall peaks and proximity to NYC.

Can’t wait for some countries to start considering us alien enemies.

Found out recently that my neighbor across the hall was laid off. She worked for a USAID contractor. Bastards.

Warriors lose a game at home they should have won w/ 3 of Denver's top players out. Westbrook and Gordon had good games.
What a disaster. Bad turnovers, bad FT shooting, bad shooting in general.
Stupid TOs. Steph trying to throw a 1/2 court pass underhanded to hit a streaking player. etc.
Ugh the free throws!
