i am not teaching this week (only Tue nights) but it is still spring break and nice to get a week off.
i entertained my 12-yr old niece around Manhattan for a day during her break. fun things we did - SoulCycle, Italian lunch, Swedish candy shopping, matcha tea and ice cream, Guggenheim, Central Park, and ramen for dinner.
The map is a fantastic idea to go with the amazing itinerary. We were just talking in our house about making sure our niblings could read a map. Now we need to elevate to drawing a map!
listening in on NPR this morning, they said that the wage gap was somewhat increased in last few years, pushing Equal Pay Day a few days later in the year.
one thing i was confused about. they were saying that some part of the explanation was due to more women taking more low wage jobs like day care, etc
i was under the impression that Equal Pay Day was more about women on average getting paid less for the same work, job title, etc as a man purely due to lower starting wages, discrimination, etc
talking w/ a friend yesterday about Iran-Israel-US situation. she said something like "Iran has nukes and it is all going to end badly"
maybe i dont read the same news. i was mostly under the impression that while Iran might still have a stash of enriched uranium, they dont really have the means to package and deliver it in a weapon format.
what is the going sentiment? or is it all over the place depending what news your read?
Looks like I won’t be watching the Nats on TV this season. They switched their contract from a RSN mostly owned by the Orioles to being produced by mlb tv. Prior years I could watch on a cable channel I got. The new mlb produced coverage isn’t part of the cable package I have so I can either upgrade my cable package or pay to stream the coverage. Nats have been terrible ever since they won the series in 2019 so I’m not paying anything extra to watch them.

that has always been one of my go-to teaching things, draw a map free hand. the number of things you learn from it are amazing.

I recall from CBS news although enriched is not weapons-grade, they could process it to weapons grade in a couple weeks. No news about the rest.
Reminds me, back in the day (1970s?) I found a book in a local Berkeley bookstore called Principles of Thermonuclear Devices.

Baseball is back.
Mets home opener today. If I had thought of it earlier I would be going
Yankees beat Giants to start season
Actually, it 70 and sunny in NYC and I am going to try to get to Citi Field for a 100p start vs pirates.
"Don't you know I hate losing to the PIE RITTS?!"
Super lame that Netflix bought out MoMo's for opening day yesterday, no one other than Netflix execs and "celebrities" allowed.
