Esteury Ruiz came up big in the ninth inning to help the Oakland Athletics to a 5-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds.
The A’s didn't waste any time getting on the board against Nick Lodolo. Brent Rooker reached on a check swing single through the right side with two outs and then came around to score on a two-run home run by Jesus Aguilar.
The Giants have been swept in Mexico. As much as it is our knee-jerk reaction as a country to blame our neighbor’s to the south for whatever is frustrating us, it’s not Mexico’s fault.
Yes, balls in the air were carrying. The infield turf was quick, the outfield turf probably too trampoline-y for its own good. No ball in play felt routine to players. Still the Giants lost a game they could’ve won if they had played better, consistent baseball for the full 9 innings.
I didn’t watch the games - what was the environment like? Obviously a lot of homers, but I think if there were an MLB team there you could build a Coors sized outfield with a Green Monster type fence. Or what the heck, you could just lean into it too.
Noah Syndergaard made his first win in a Dodger uniform memorable in a way he probably never thought he would. It was his first win as a starter without recording a strikeout.
Perhaps this might something to watch since he had two wins last year for the Angels where he recorded just one strikeout.
If you owned a McDonalds franchise and you let your store fall into disrepair and served moldy burgers with rat droppings, McDonalds would terminate your franchise. The MLB should (but won’t ) do the same here.
One big difference being that no city is clamoring to be the host city to a McDonald's franchise. Three are literally thousands of McDonald's franchises whereas there are only 30 MLB franchises.
Further, having a franchise in your city means that your city's name is present in the various media nearly every day during the baseball season.
MLB has an anti-trust exemption from SCOTUS and they act like it. Congress has been derelict in its duties for decades and decades: remove the anti-trust exemption through legislation.

White Sox had a 10 game losing streak. Bottom of the ninth with two outs and two strikes. Ray's pitcher Cleavinger's 2-2 pitch is a slow slider that is dropping well outside the zone.
Bring on the Lakers! If and when Klay, Wigs and/or Poole start pouring in points this team will be tough to beat. Looney was looking like an all star this series. I wonder if the coach they brought in to coach up Wiseman ended up actually benefiting Looney much more. Definitely looking like the best undersized center in the post season, if not the league.
Speaking as a fan of the Kings, I don't think Kings fans are too disappointed with this loss. The future is bright for this team. We lost to the defending champs and to a player of generational talent who rewrote history in the lore of NBA playoff basketball. On top of that, these two teams have never been rivals and there is definitely crossover in the fanbase. My biggest hope for this season is that the Warriors bring the same juice to the Lakers and send their sorry assess home.
I've watched the Dubs play, they as a team don't look anywhere as good when they won the whole- except for Curry, a lot of them seem worse, and they have no good "tall" players.

BERKELEY – Makena Smith and Kacey Zobac both homered in their final home game but the California softball team came up short in an 8-5 loss to No. 14 Oregon on Sunday at Levine-Fricke Field.
The Ducks (35-11, 14-7 Pac-12) got their 13th straight win and moved into a tie for second-place in the conference with the win behind a six-run fourth inning. The Golden Bears (31-17-1, 7-13-1 Pac-12) were led by three Tatum Anzaldo hits and three RBI from Zobac.
STANFORD – Sampson Zheng secured an individual top-10 finish with a 1-under par 69 in the final round and the California men's golf team finished in eighth place at the Pac-12 Championships on Sunday at Stanford Golf Course. The Golden Bears shot an 11-over 361 in the final round and rounded out the 72-hole, three-day tournament at 16-over par.
Tournament host Stanford, which was tied for third after 54 holes, pummeled the field with a fourth-round 4-under 346 – no other team shot better than 3-over par on Sunday – and won the team championship by 13 strokes at 19-under par. Cardinal golfer Michael Thorbjornsen (-15) shot a fourth-round 68 on Sunday and claimed individual medalist honors.
PITTSBURGH – The Cal baseball team pounded out 13 hits on the afternoon but host Pittsburgh completed the sweep, winning 10-5 on Sunday afternoon at Charles L. Cost Field.
Cal (18-22) got a three-hit performance from Kade Kretzschmar, his 12th multi-hit game of the month and sixth three-hit game of the season. He finished the afternoon 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored. Peyton Schulze and Dom Souto also collected multiple hits on the day. Schulze went 2-for-5 with a run scored, Souto was 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Nathan Manning led the Bears with two runs driven in. Caleb Lomavita knocked in a run and extended his reached base safely streak to 13 games after finishing the day 1-for-5.
BERKELEY – The California beach volleyball team is going dancing for the second straight year after earning an NCAA Championship berth Sunday morning. The No. 8 Golden Bears (28-9) received their highest seeding in school history and will face No. 9 Long Beach State (24-14) in the first round on Friday at 8 a.m. PT.
The Bears will make their second appearance in Gulf Shores, Alabama, after a historic regular season in which they broke the program's all-time wins record and finished second at the Pac-12 Championship. The at-large bid was cemented last week after the Bears opened the conference tournament with three straight wins, including a 3-2 upset of reigning national champion No. 3 USC.
BERKELEY– It was inevitable, it seemed, that the collegiate discus record would fall once again to California track & field's Mykolas Alekna.
"To be honest, I didn't expect to throw that far," said Alekna, whose astonishing mark of 71.00m (232-11) moved into this year's world lead and obliterated his all-dates PR by 1.19m (three feet, 11 inches). "I tried to use what I was working on. Coach (Mohamad Saatara) helped me to throw far, gave me advice on technique. It was good teamwork."
"Because of his schedule and long season ahead, this is sort of a 'working period' for him," Saatara, who leads Cal's throwers, said. "We're just working on a lot of technical stuff, better rhythmic throws and stability."
REDWOOD CITY – The No. 7 California Golden Bears women's rowing team nearly had a clean sweep at the Pac-12 Challenge at Redwood Shores on Saturday with the first and second varsity eights along with the first and second varsity fours going undefeated against No. 12 SMU and Iowa. The lone loss came when the Bears' third varsity eight was defeated by No. 4 Stanford.
The event also marked the team's celebration of the 50th anniversary of Title IX. The team honored members from the 1965 club team – considered the first organized team featuring Cal women students – and the 1975 team – the first NCAA-sanctioned women's varsity eight team at Cal.
SAN JOSE –An eight-goal second half wasn't enough for the No. 6 California women's water polo team to overcome No. 1 USC in Saturday's MPSF Semifinal as the Golden Bears were defeated 16-10.
For the second straight year, Cal (18-9) will close out the MPSF Championships in the third-place game against No. 3 UCLA on Sunday.
Eight different Bears found the back of the net, with two goals each coming from junior Maddie DeMattia and sophomore Rozanne Voorvelt. Senior goalkeeper Isabel Williams finished with six saves – moving her to No. 5 in program history for her career – to go along with four steals.
SAN JOSE – In the final minute of perhaps the most thrilling game the No. 6 California women's water polo team has been a part of this year, redshirt freshman Claire Rowell scored her third goal with 18 seconds left in regulation and senior goalkeeper Isabel Williams saved No. 3 UCLA's final shot attempt to claim a 12-11 win in the MPSF Championship Third-Place Game.
Rowell's heroic strike broke Cal (18-9) out of its sixth tie of the day – and third of the fourth quarter – with the Bruins (20-7). Then, for the second straight year, Cal's defense stuffed UCLA's potential last-chance equalizer to preserve a one-goal Bear victory.
REDWOOD CITY – The No. 1 California men's rowing team had a successful outing at the Big Row against No. 9 Stanford, taking both the varsity and second varsity eight races at Redwood Shores on Saturday morning and retaining the Schwabacher Cup. The Golden Bears have now won nine straight matchups against the Cardinal and extended their series lead to 70-19. Both crews remain undefeated this season heading into the Pac-12 Championships in two weeks.
In the varsity eight race, Cal was able to build an open-water lead of about two seats by the 1,000-meter mark. Stanford was able to keep the distance over the next 500 meters, before the Bears made a push to extend their lead to a few seats of open water to win by five seconds in a time of 5:31.7.
That's only since 2010, which would necessarily exclude David Binn (Cal, '94), who was a long snapper in the NFL for 17 years (1994 to 2010). Surely, this would extend Cal's lead and cement its #1 status.

Go Bears!!!
It's official. Suck it, Rutgers!

We are LSU!
That's only since 2010, which would necessarily exclude David Binn (Cal, '94), who was a long snapper in the NFL for 17 years (1994 to 2010). Surely, this would extend Cal's lead and cement its #1 status.

Somewhat surprised UW had no one picked, considering their history and the success of the team in DeBoer’s first season.
Scary version: that means a team that won 10 games is returning a lot of guys, including an elite QB. Dark horse CFP candidate.
How did they win 10 games with no draftees? Pretty weird

Very tough kid.
He did toss the pick 6 that Weav returned for a TD.
