Late homers lifts A’s over Rangers

The A’s were locked in a pitching duel for the majority of Wednesday night’s contest against the Rangers. This game seemed destined for extra innings but a massive ninth inning saw six A’s runs cross home plate, breaking this game open and helping the A’s win their second of three against Texas with the series finale set for tomorrow afternoon.

It was “Bark in the Park” on Wednesday at PetCo Park, where the San Francisco Giants were dogged by their inability to get hits, retrieve a ball successfully, and handle their sticks in a 5-3 loss to the San Diego Padres. It was a two-game sweep where the Padres were all very good boys.

The Dodgers offense flourished yet again, scoring double-digit runs on their way to a 12-7 win, but the performance of Tony Gonsolin is the highlight of this affair, with the Cat Man looking as sharp as ever. For someone who hasn’t pitched in the majors since August 2023, the rust seemed nearly nonexistent for Gonsolin.

While the Lakers had just split a pair of games to open the NBA playoffs against the Wolves, they felt confident going to Minnesota, knowing just one victory would give them back home-court advantage.

They never won again.

Steph Curry, Warriors drop Game 5 in blowout 131-116 loss to Rockets

https://www.goldenstateofmind.com/2025/4/30/24421362/playoffs-rockets-blowout-warriors-game-5-steph-curry-fred-vanvleet-amen-thompson

The Golden State Warriors technically showed up for Game 5 against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night, but they played like a team that was waiting for Game 6. While the Rockets played like a team that was one loss away from elimination, the Dubs looked like a tired, older, and slower team that lacked much urgency. That combination is how the Rockets coasted to a 131-116 blowout where the Warriors pulled their starters halfway through the third quarter.

El Colacho: The Spanish Festival Where Men Jump Over Newborn Babies

https://www.ancient-origins.net/weird-facts/el-colacho-baby-jumping-0019845

A Centuries-Old Ceremony for Sin Cleansing

In the heart of Spain, the quaint village of Castrillo de Murcia becomes the epicenter of a centuries-old tradition known as El Colacho, where men vault over newborns to ward off evil

El Colacho, which takes place during the festival of Corpus Christi, is a centuries-old tradition dating back to 1620. It features men, known as 'El Colacho', dressed in bright, yellow costumes and masks, symbolizing the Devil. These men run and jump over mattresses lined with babies born in the previous 12 months, who are laid out in the open air by their parents. This act is said to cleanse the babies of original sin, ensure them safe passage through life, and guard against illness and evil spirits.

The infants, oblivious to the spectacle above them, are traditionally dressed in their christening clothes, and the festival is attended with a mix of solemnity and celebration. Parents from all around the region bring their newborns to participate in this age-old rite, showcasing their faith in this peculiar cultural legacy.

Serious question: Why don't we have bidets in the U.S.? I mean pretty much in every home?

Because Americans (as a group) are messed up about anything below the belt line and above the knees. Puritan morality definitely has a hand in this.

We bought bidet attachments for our toilets about 3 years ago, I think. Vast improvement over just TP alone. And we use less TP.
