Ex-Raiders WR Henry Ruggs III to plead guilty in fatal DUI case
Police say the 24-year-old Ruggs was drunk and reached speeds of 156 mph in Las Vegas' valley west of The Strip in the early morning hours of Nov. 2, 2021, when his Corvette Stingray hit Tina Tintor's Toyota RAV4, propelling it 571 feet and setting it on fire. Tintor, 23, and her dog Max burned to death, a coroner ruled in December 2021.
I say this as someone who was a massive proponent of the San Francisco Giants decision to hire Farhan Zaidi, a massive proponent of their decision to continue employing him, a massive proponent of their public desire to retain him, a massive proponent of how the team handled this offseason, and a massive proponent of the thought that the Giants are gonna be pretty good, actually.
So, to recap: I think the Giants are run by smart people who have done smart things. I think they should keep employing those smart people who will continue doing smart things.
LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers offense scored early and often, their power display more than enough to smooth over any potential turbulence in Monday’s 13-4 win over the Phillies at Dodger Stadium.
Season highs in runs and hits (15) gave the Dodgers a fourth straight victory marked their longest win streak of the season.
Yup I absolutely don't like James Harden. Hated his game when we was with the Rockets. And I hated the Rockets style of play as well. He's ball dominate, drives the lane to draw a foul, and then complains when he doesn't get the call in the playoffs. And then he's worn out by the playoffs because his usage rate is so high.

Interesting times down here in LA. Rumors that the producers are holding out to thin out the Writers Guild. Most union departments are striking in solidarity. The show my wife is on (some Marvel TV spin off) somehow is not striking, which is good on the pay check side, however she now has to ask her lead man "so how do we navigate the picket lines to get on the lot" every day. Hoping a resolution can be found soon or else there will be A LOT of people hurting within the month. I think the LA workforce is something like 35% linked to entertainment and a lot of it is union.

They reached the title match and finished as runners-up in 2011.

CAL OPENS PAC-12 CHAMPIONSHIP AGAINST ARIZONA STATE
— Arizona State holds a 9-4 advantage in the all-time series after the teams first met in 2018, and has won each of the last eight games including both games in 2023 with a 13-9 victory in Berkeley on April 2 and a 15-6 win in Tempe on April 9.
— Wednesday's meeting will be the fourth consecutive time the teams have met in the Pac-12 Championship with the Bears a winner in Eugene in 2019 for their first-ever victory in the event, and the Sun Devils victorious at Stanford in 2021 and in Tempe in 2022.
BERKELEY – The California baseball team returns to the Bay Area on Tuesday for a nonconference contest at Santa Clara. First pitch for the Bears and Broncos is scheduled for 6 p.m. PT. Tuesday's game will be streamed on the WCC Network and fans can also follow along via livestats at Stabroadcast.com.
Cal (18-22) is coming off a tough weekend in Pittsburgh where it was swept by the Panthers. Prior to that series, the Bears were 12-3 in nonconference play. Santa Clara (23-15) is currently riding a five-game winning streak after sweeping Pepperdine in Malibu last weekend.

That cover picture of tulips - when I was a kid and we were living in the Netherlands, the place was absolutely inundated with tourists coming to see the tulip fields and the Keukenhof in particular. For years I associated tulips with German tour buses (they’d hang strings of them across the front of the buses)
I was just at Keukenhof last week and the tourists are out of control. When we booked, it was suggested 2-4 hrs were needed to see and enjoy everything. We left after an hour and a half.
I completely believe it. I think we went *once* as a family because my folks were like “absolutely fuck this noise,” but I know we had at least one school trip also
My favorites tend to be cactus flowers, however I don't know the name of any of them. The San Pedro or Moonlight cactus that only blooms at night is high on my list. Also a thornless succulent called a Carrion Plant that produces a flower that gives off a rotting flesh scent attracting flies tricking them into pollinating. We had a couple of them potted and after many years they started blooming these weird looking flowers last summer.
When we did a spring break to the southwest in 2017, we were surprised at a section of the drive from Phoenix to Flagstaff which had fields just full of wildflowers, I guess there had been recent rain- quite lovely.
I had a friends who did a season at sea working on an Alaska crab boat. We met while studying abroad in Budapest. He went to UCSD, he was a big and physically fit guy and said it was the hardest work he ever did, it also paid really well for such a short time commitment.
As a side note, what are the two states in the union that rhyme? He was born in one and lived in the other.
The imagery is pretty spectacular. Fishing boats in high seas at night in the Bering Sea, pulling up crab pots, which are often covered in ice? Sign me up for a desk job.

Completely ridiculous speeds. At least he’s pleading guilty, not that it brings her back.

according to your theory he will get the 76ers to the finals, but then be too tired to beat the Warriors!
Except he didn't have to be ball dominant this season so he's got much more energy to go to the strip clubs.
i was bisy this year. didnt go to that many
Missed that game, watched that super low scoring one.

on the other hand, it reminds me of my "worst dad joke" that is something like this ...

kid: i dunno
me: i'll give you a hint. starts w/ W and rhymes w/ Washington.
can be substituted w/ just about any question ..
If Washington washed his woolies, how many w's in all?
ANSWER: There are no w's in "all"!
Those aren’t rhymes as much as they are the same word.
Nebraska and Alaska that rhymes but not the same word.
