Looking through the sports page while eating lunch. Three Bears in the PGA top 25 in winnings so far this season, with a combined total of just over $9 million. Not a bad start to the year.

Giro d'Italia

usually one of the best and most competitive races of the year. this year Pogacar is going for the exceedingly difficult Giro-Tour double. however, most of his competition is injured from early season crashes. it is only stage 4 and he already has a 1-ish min lead on his nearest rivals that arent even really in the rival category.

in fact, if Pogacar can conserve energy by winning Giro easily and his rivals are not in great shape for Tour, he might have a very good chance at the rare double.

i dont think anyone has ever won all 3 grand tours in a year. the "triple crown in cycling" is usually considered the Giro, the Tour, and the one-day World Championships in Sep. only 2 people have ever done that. Merckx and Stephne Roche (who i met and rode w/ once)

still, it is a 3 wk race, incredibly difficult and amazing scenery nearly every day.

Rangers steal 4-2 victory late

https://www.athleticsnation.com/2024/5/6/24150747/rangers-steal-4-2-victory-late

The A’s turned in a really backwards effort on Tuesday: Alex Wood was magnificent, and their bullpen conceded a late lead.

Through the first 7.2 innings of the game it looked like the A’s were on their way to an impressive shutout with Wood getting his second victory of the season. Instead, Corey Seager had other plans. He turned a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 lead with one swing of the bat depositing a ball into the right center stands off Lucas Erceg. In the end, the A’s lost 4-2 in a game they let slip right through their hands with their offense falling flat.

Knicks playoff game tonight ..

Reggie Miller will be back at Madison Square Garden nearly 29 years to the day after his legendary performance in the same building, and he has a light-hearted warning for New York Knicks fans. Just know, the Boogeyman is coming back to town to call the game," Miller said half-jokingly during an interview on "The Dan Patrick Show" on Monday. "I am coming."

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/40100184/reggie-miller-warning-msg-fans-boogeyman-coming

Indiana and New York squared off in the postseason six times over an eight-year stretch from 1992 to 2000, with Miller frequently playing the role of villain at Madison Square Garden, where he routinely feuded with Knicks players and fans.

Miller's most memorable MSG moment came on May 7, 1995, when he scored eight points over the final nine seconds to rally the Pacers to a 107-105 victory in Game 1 of the conference semifinals. He authored another all-time performance in Game 5 of the 1994 conference finals, when he scored 25 of his 39 points in the fourth quarter while exchanging barbs with Knicks superfan Spike Lee.

not sure Nuggets will advance in playoffs. lose badly at home to T-wolves. down by 25+ in first half. T-wolves didnt even have their defensive MVP. now need to go win at least 2 on the road.

also, Anthony Edwards seemingly plays at twice the speed of the others. amazing to watch.

Feels like we are watching the rise of the next NBA superstar.

This postseason run is making me wonder how the Wolves let themselves slip down to the 3 seed in the regular season. It's not like they are a veteran squad who's already proven themselves and feels like they can just cruise.

to be fair 1-2-3 seed went down the last day of season, right? any of the 3 could have been #1 i think.

They lost games to the Nuggets and the Suns down that home stretch, though! Then somehow are roasting them in the playoffs. I dunno.

It’s their playoff level D and also Murray being dinged up. With no real second option Joker is getting swarmed.

Agree with you re Ant Man - he’s the best player on the floor easily, and the floor includes Jokic!

Their defense just seemed impossible to solve in this last game. Denver moves the ball as well as any team and NO ONE could get open.
