It's a cut of meat that is perpendicular to the spine. This term is unhelpful because it's not very descriptive apart from its shape. More importantly, the chop could come from pretty much anywhere on the animal - from the highest quality parts to the worst. If you don't know what part your chop comes from, ask your butcher.
I know this is the way they play, but I really don't like how the Celtics just keep chucking it even when the threes aren't falling. With a big lead you could just start taking it to the basket and getting fouled and stall whatever momentum the opponent might start generating. This is a thing that Steph Curry learned to do and it was an improvement to his game.
Co-signed. The Warriors were chucking up 3s that wouldn't score and eschewed trying to score from the paint, for instance. It was maddening, given that they could, in fact, get penetration to attempt a low post shot. But, in the words of Larry Johnson's Grandmama, the Warriors kept shooting from the Land of Tiny Folk.
It wasn't until the Dubs had two straight possessions where they scored on low post shots that they stopped the bleeding of the lead and stabilized it. By that time the lead had gone from 23 points to 9 and the T'Wolves started to make mistakes that cost them dearly down the stretch.
I’m not Catholic so am not affected by this either way, but what is with these insensitive people? Shortly after Trump had to pull his nomination to be U.S. Attorney for DC for many reasons, Ed Martin posts this.
We have an American Pope, I never thought I would see an American Pope in my lifetime, especially one right after Francis being from Argentina. Back to back popes from that were born outside of Europe is surprising.

talked to some people on the streets yesterday as i was picking up my shoes from the cobbler. the growing sentiment i get is that people dont lilke Trump and what he stands for but they are willing to look the other way since they feel like at least is trying to do something "for the people" and that the Democrats are somewhat out of touch.
That's more evidence that the Democrat strayed from FDR's message that folks who work for a living deserve to live a life in which not everything is a struggle. And when you retire, you should be able to do so without slipping into poverty. Government should help them live that life. Hence, the creation of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid (under LBJ), the GI Bill which also supported the expansion of admission to higher education institutions for more than just service members, and on and on.
My hypothesis is that Democratic leaders, in trying to blunt the GOP electoral advances under Reagan, decided to get in bed with corporations and consequently began to turn an increasingly blind eye towards the base of the New Deal Coalition: the working class. Nixon's victory in 1968 was shocking because the South was no longer the Solid South for Democrats and Democratic leadership had no plan to counter that shift. They could have easily doubled down on the social safety net, ensuring its commitment to the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act, access to education, and reproductive health care and choice, but they failed to offer more than qualified and often milquetoast endorsement of those positions. Instead, everything became negotiable. Democrats lacked spine and moral certitude. We still have that nonsense embodied in the personage of Chuck Schumer and others who equivocate when faced with tough questions.
To me a lot of this is also just a natural long-term political cycle. The people who actually remember FDR and the New Deal are almost all dead now, but everyone remembers the free-market Reagan era as the last truly defining era in American politics. Lessons need to be re-learned.
Honestly, it seems like Biden kind of understood this on some level, but his execution of the ideas left a lot to be desired.
Your points are well taken, especially about what the electorate remembers and needs to re-learn. Those in their 20s, 30s, and 40s are going to have to re-learn the effects of Robber Baron economics and the downsides of economics tilted towards oligarchs. The lessons will be stark and brutal.
History may not repeat itself, but it does rhyme... or so the theory goes. I fear that we are entering a period that will mimic the Great Depression while hurtling us towards a new World War. I would welcome (obviously) a rebirth of a New Deal ethos with an emphasis on a more inclusive America and more respectful of the environment.
Well said. Schumer -- he of the strongly-worded letter -- is truly illustrative of this era's Democrat. The sooner the party moves away from him and towards people like AOC, Pete Buttigieg and others with both fire in their bellies and new ideas in their heads, the better off we'll be.
aside from the cobbler, where else do people get shoes fixed?
the good thing is that shoe shine and repair places abound in NYC. sometimes they are just next to the subway entrance.

Commuted to SF FiDi for decades. There were two cobbler shops near my office, just off of Market Street. One also had a small retail space for shoes and leather goods - Jack’s. I believe they’re still there. They did excellent work.
