BAY

I dig this part of Boston

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

i didnt realize it was built on reclaimed land

Back Bay is an officially recognized neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts, built on reclaimed land in the Charles River basin. Construction began in 1859, as the demand for luxury housing exceeded the availability in the city at the time, and the area was fully built by around 1900

To the future.

I wonder when we will be a Hollywood reboot of this movie.

heyalumnigo's avatar

If they're doing a reboot, then the car needs a reboot as well. What car? Keeping with the stainless steel theme, a Cybertrunk (hope not).

GoldenSD81's avatar

I would think it would be a cyber truck. Just like the Delorean, the cyber trucks design is very polarizing and it is stainless steel.

Drewek HIts First Homer in 12-5 Loss (Ballers lose to the Ogden Raptors)

https://www.oaklandballers.com/sports/bsb/2025/releases/202505222uwiew

OAKLAND, Calif. -- Davis Drewek smacked an opposite-field tater, the first home run of the season for the Ballers, on Wednesday night against the Ogden Raptors. It was one of the few bright spots for Oakland in the 12-5 loss to Ogden.

With two outs in the second inning, the left-handed hitting Drewek stung a ball to left field for a two-run bomb. Not only was it Oakland's opening long ball of 2025, but also Drewek's introductory dinger in his professional career.

Athletics fall again to the Angels, 10-5

https://www.athleticsnation.com/2025/5/21/24435007/athletics-fall-again-to-the-angels

Hoping to end the losing streak at seven games, the Athletics took on the Los Angeles Angels tonight at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento. The A’s 29-year-old lefty JP Sears faced off against Jack Kochanowicz for the Halos.

heyalumnigo's avatar

Asking the group if we still want Oakland A's results. I'm going to start adding the Ballers results.

Strut’88's avatar

No interest in the A’s for the foreseeable future. But I’m pissed at the entire league.

sycasey's avatar

Well we already aren't getting Oakland A's results, since they are just now the A's with no city.

I guess as long as they're still in NorCal it's fine. Not sure how many actual fans they have left, though.

heyalumnigo's avatar

I guess I still say Oakland A's, just like I still use Pac Bell Park, and the Stick vs whatever it became.

https://www.mccoveychronicles.com/2025/5/21/24434797/parade-hits-relievers-sinks-giants-against-royals

The good news from Wednesday’s game between the San Francisco Giants and Kansas City Royals is that Patrick Bailey hit his first home run of the season and Giants pitchers didn’t issue a single walk. The bad news was almost everything else in a 8-4 defeat.

Teoscar Hernández home run makes a winner out of Dustin May in Dodgers’ finale with D-backs

https://www.truebluela.com/2025/5/21/24434980/teoscar-hernandez-dustin-may-corbin-burnes-dodgers-diamondbacks

It was the Dodgers' turn to come out on the winning end of a pitchers’ duel between Corbin Burnes and Dustin May, and that’s what happened, as Los Angeles beat the Diamondbacks 3-1 thanks to Teoscar Hernández.

Knicks blow 4th Q lead and lose in OT. Haliburton does the classic Reggie-Miller-choking move in front of everyone at the Garden.

that shot to tie the game and sent it to overtime was nuts. hits the rim, bounces high off the rim and goes right through!

he stepped on the line so it was only 2 points, otherwise they would have won it right there.

https://www.nba.com/pacers/videos/haliburton-sends-it-to-overtime

sycasey's avatar

This was stunning. The Knicks' defense against three-pointers (at a time when that was probably the only thing that could beat them) left a lot to be desired. Of course, I also don't think anyone expected Aaron Nesmith to make six straight threes.

What's your cell phone screen background/lock screen?

heyalumnigo's avatar

Cellphone background is black, so no photo. My lock screen is also black. My Mac background is the live background of the Bixby bridge that was the Monterey OS background. It changes the background to dark when it's nighttime.

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

i dont have anything like a photo on lock screen or regular background.

the lock screen just has a big analog clock so i can quickly check the time.

HeyStudentsBears's avatar

the home screen has an app called Sectograph that gives me a graphical look at my calendar.

Visual planner for visual people

Sectograph is a visual day planner that displays your calendar events on a pie chart in the form of a 12/24 hour clock face.

It's a different way of looking at the day

Lock Screen is an album of photos of daughter. Can cycle thru them by tapping on screen.

Background is said daughter wearing the first of the HSB Cal T-shirt donation package!

Three years ago, I think? She’s about halfway thru the collection. Wears a Cal shirt to school about once/week.

They will be passed on!

US House passes "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" (HR1) - the Federal budget reconciliation, by a single vote. It is likely to be passed. In summary, Trump gets what he wants - more funding for his tentpole low-ROI programs (Golden Dome, hiring more gestapo to go after immigrants), tax cuts for the rich, and lots of benefit cuts - especially Medicaid and Food Stamps.
